Passing in the paint

Problematic since original 2k... Dribble Dribble Dribble spam, throw bullet pass in paint from 8 feet away, score.. In the 18 years I have played 2k I have never seen the ontheball defender put his hands up to defend the passing lane and get a tip or a steal. This is a MUST address. This is not difficult to program for but highly frustrating. Its like Knowing how to drive for 20years and not knowing how to pump gas in your car.

Yep , sums up 2K17. I hate the success of paint passes

I just want more defense in the game . Maybe the game devs are focusing on too much flashiness and not enough fundamentals

The game makes you put your hands down, even if you are already holding them up before the pass is made. 2k12 was the last game that allowed you to keep your hands up to deflect passes. It also was the last 2k that had decent paint defense.

Re: Passing in the paint

I don't remember it ever being this bad on last gen. The paint defense in this game (and last year as well) is a complete joke.

Re: Passing in the paint

2K11 had the best interior defense by far. No other 2K have ever came close to that since then.

On the rare occasion I lose a match in 2K to friends or online, passing in the paint is usually the root of my issues on defense. Guys who know how and when to throw those passes are so tough to beat because the game doesn't know how to defend it. Even with perfectly timed steal attempts, the defender will choose a bad animation that doesn't correspond with the situation. I always found it best to constantly switch onto paint defenders to put them in better position then switch off as I know the person is going to attempt the pass. The CPU usually gets better steal animations and reacts to loose balls a lot better than when I try to do it myself.

Re: Passing in the paint

I feel like one of the patches bumped up pass interceptions/deflections, but not for interior passes. Instead some of the easiest passes to make get stolen now. Anyone else experienced this?

Anyway passing has been broken ever since 2K was born. Some games it was tolerable. Probably have to go back 4 years or more
