NBA Today and "enhanced commentary."

Just wondering what you guys make of this? What could it be? Any possible surprises in store?

BTW, the commentary sounds like it could have been given the same love MLB's commentary was given this year. Imagine if they even improved upon it, given the extra time they had.

My money is on the commentary shocking everyone for the first time in a LONG time.

It's just another main menu where you can either play the day's real games directly (similar to Play Now), look at NBA news/info, or go to the secondary game menu where you can load up franchises, etc. Just another coat of paint.. I'm sure there are some unique or cool features within the menus, but it's just an expanded version of what they had last year for Association.

I still don't trust 2K on the commentary front, though I haven't played/listened to MLB 2K9. And Clark Kellogg still doesn't sound right for an NBA game, I don't care how solid his commentary is... just doesn't sound real to me.

See the "Y Button" for Living Rosters? In 2k10, The 2k Insider will, at last, get useful for a change, and will be updating rosters every 30 minutes. So every time you press the "Y Button", you got your last 30 minutes Living Rosters! This is what I call "NBA TODAY"!

Nah, I don't think it's just for association, they definitely expanded it for the main interface. But it's essentially just the same thing they had with nba.com last year in Association -- just gives scores, stats, etc., except it's for real games if you're in the main menu or a non-Association game mode. And they mentioned that you can choose any game from that day and hop in immediately, which is similar to what Live did with the Game of the Week feature via 'Play Now'.

It's a cool layout and will be an improvement from a normal game menu. As long as it runs okay and doesn't jitter and freeze like the Association menu did in 2K9 ha...

The reviewer sounded very impressed with what he heard, so I'm sure it's different at the very least. I don't think he would have frontloaded his preview with the commentary if he wasn't somewhat blown away by it.

What if the "Y Button" would wake up the 2K Insider or smacked him around to get him working on those rosters? Could be an interactive thing where everytime someone presses it, he gets a prick or prod. I know DC would love that. If the Living Rosters is his duty though, I'll be waiting for my man nogster to toss us the love. Definitely need to make sure that this is a comparison for Da Czar for this year because the rosters have been brown toilet water since I can remember with this company. They do some things great while other things.......

On another note, if they have this new NBA Today joint but I can't go back and play those games from a week ago, then it's worth nothing. I love the fact that we can play the setups but I'd want to have those options available for the whole season. I'd love to play an opening game midseason or something like that. Time is definitely not my friend when gaming so I'd like the option to come back. I'm curious to know how they'll upkeep all of this stuff. Will the 82games guys be putting in the information for the games for the next day? I wonder how often those rosters will be updated. I wonder if it will be comparable to what Live did basically. Doesn't make sense to have this option when it's not even worth the time to try it out. I do love the fact that there are scores that we check out though.

I also love the MLB commentary no-stitch commentary. HOWEVER, I'd be surprised if they can keep the commentary that nice for the whole game. I want to see how solid it is during the Association in the first year, second year, fifth year, seventh year, and beyond. I wonder if it'll be solid enough to really make me comfortable in playing it. I think they might step up and do some wonderful stuff but they will probably fall short again. Too many times have I seen them pump it up only to be tired of it after a couple of games because they're too individual focused as opposed to gameplay focused when talking. I'm skeptical though I know I'll enjoy the game.
