Re: NBA Live 13 Trailer Arrives, But the Game is Delayed Indefinitely

In all honesty, I read the first part of this thread title, "NBA Live 13 Trailer Arrives" and my first thought was, "Oh word, nice, finally. Now we're getting somewhere." Of course, I continued on to the rest of the title "But the Game is Delayed Indefinitely" and I honestly just smiled and shook my head to myself, which is something I don't normally do. At this point, it's like, "C'mon guys, you cannot be real right now."

With that said, I was still kind of excited to see the trailer and after the first ten seconds or so, I was actually legitimately worried EA wasn't going to show any footage closer than the aerial shots in the opening. I thought the faces really did look pretty good though. And as others said, it's nice to see correct accessory colors. Everything else is looking a little subpar though. The animations and matter with which they connect to one another seems stiff and robotic. And the entire time I watched these short bursts of close-ups, I couldn't help thinking about how bad the game looked in the alpha video (or whatever we're calling it now).

I was smiling before I even clicked the video lol. The game looks terrible. NBA Live has A LOT of work to do to catch up with 2K. I hope they hurry up and step it up to at least give 2K some type of competition. I don't care what anyone says though, the facial models look really really good.

Well, that's a shame.

I suppose there are some positives to take from this. Like faces.

But oh man, EA are simply not that good at sports simulations. I'm sorry, they just are not. All their games have a floaty feeling. No weight or mass to the ball/players. FIFA is probably only exception. It's decent. Hockey probably gets a pass, but still light floaty players and puck physics are brutal. Not enough animations or individuality.

Look at their business model. It speaks volumes. Stay away from the PC, which could actually help them. Mods would do wonders to improve their games and sales. Instead they've chosen to stay away and, even on consoles, eliminate editing altogether or make it so restrictive that you are dependent on them for even a roster update ("$60 please"--EA). They cater to corporate greed as opposed to the fans. They could potentially be so much better if they chose to cooperate with the users instead of treating them like sheep. And the users have to take some responsibility in all this. Handing over our money like sheep. Although I suspect that's why they cater to the casuals, they don't know any better.
