I like this idea, the voting sucked but, I would love to have that feeling of facing the crowd as well.

I like the idea if I'm going into Duke I want it to be tough as hell to play in, i don't want a game where playing @ Duke feels the same as playing @ Savannah St.

my schools arena could be a top 5 when they face top 10 teams as those are the "big games" or even against tough conference foes. but there off games, its like any other arena, even though they average in the top 20 in attendance.

you can also play into question about historically speaking how tough some venues are and compare with common day, to see if they live up to that hype.

its a perfect job for a intern to get in and do some fun investigating.

looking at some of the pits "trophy lists":

-Hoops America back in '99 listed LOUDEST college arena venues.
-SI listed top 20 venues of the 20th century (does that even matter in regards to atmosphere?)
-In Jan. 2008 USA TODAY: 10 great places to get pumped for NCAA action
-Foxsports: Top 10 old school arenas
-Rivals.com: top 16 home court advantages

Nice pit momento:

A great idea . . . or they could average all of those lists, or at least give more weight to the toughest places to win on the road at.

Sis top 20 venues of the 20th century: (only lists cameron and the pit)

Foxsports.com Top 10 old school venues:
FoxSports.com’s Top 10 Old School Venues:

1. Wrigley Field
2. Fenway Park
3. Lambeau Field
4. Cameron Indoor
5. Notre Dame Stadium
6. Daytona International Speedway
7. The Pit (University Arena, New Mexico)
8. The Rose Bowl
9. Allen Fieldhouse
10. The Igloo (Mellon Arena)

From 2005: espn 5 we like, 5 we want to see:

As part of their Student Spirit Week, ESPN.com ran an article on “favorite arena atmospheres.”
http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/story...tmosphere27658

If one were to catalog all of what they found, you would have over 40-50 schools listed in some fashion. A top 20 list does noone justice.

A top 3 per conference would be Great. for the smaller no name conferences, you could likely go by winning percentage at home combined with attendance/capacity figures.
