Here's the rest of our cuts & there's 1 player, really 2 that surprised me:

WR Cedrick Wilson, RB Darius Jackson, CB Donovan Olumba, CB Mike Jackson, CB Treston Decoud, CB Chris Westry, RB Mike Weber, LB Kyle Queiro, FB Ryan Yurachek, LB Nate Hall, LB Justin Phillips, RB Jordan Chunn, LS Drew Scott, LB Chris Covington, OL Juwann Bushell-Beatty, OL Lukayus McNeil, OT Jake Campos, DE Daniel Wise, OT Mitch Hyatt, DL Shakir Soto, DT Ricky Walker, DE Jalen Jelks, TE Marcus Lucas, WR Jalen Guyton
Released:
S George Iloka
Waived/injured: TE Codey McElroy, CB Tyvis Powell, S Jameill Showers
Reserve/physically unable to perform: WR Noah Brown
Injured reserve: OT Cody Wichmann, DE Daniel Ross, WR Jon'Vea Johnson, DE Jalen Jelks
Reserve/suspended: DE Robert Quinn
My surprises are in bold above. The biggest one to me is WR Cedric Wilson. He did well in the preseason & especially the final preseason game. He performed well in training camp too. He was getting nothing but high praise from his teammates for his work ethic & ability. With Noah Brown still on the PUP list cutting Wilson is even more surprising to me.
Don't make much sense. The guy was on IR all of last season as a rookie & coaches/management said he was probably going to be in their plans for the future. Sometimes these player cuts make absolutely no sense whatsoever to me. That goes for ALL NFL teams too & not just our Cowboys.
S George Iloka wasn't as big of a surprise just because he was injured the last 2 preseason games. However, we signed him to be one of our starting safeties. He was probably going to be unavailable for this season off & on due to injury woes but still if he were to get healthy then he couldn't do anything but help on the back end of the defense.
CB Chris Westry was another player that was expected to make the roster. He had looked good in training camp. He was picked up by us as a UDFA.
Wasted draft picks that seems to be the norm in the NFL these days. At least 1 draft pick for just about all teams seem to get cut. I don't care how you look at that it's a wasted draft pick. Pick a player that you know fits the team & style of play instead of wasting picks on them.
It gets old seeing this happen every single season. It does happen to most teams so we're not in the minority on doing this but it's just not good to waste draft picks by cutting them unless it would be under circumstances that are truly warranted like suspensions/off the field issues or lack of effort players.
