Prior to MVP, High Heat Baseball held my attention.

Knight knows all about that game, too.

Re: EA Sports MVP Baseball Series to Make a Return?

The way my baseball Gaming goes, I started out with Triple play, Went to high heat for a bit, alternated between high heat 03 and MVP 03, continued with MVP baseball series all the way until MLB 07 the show. I lived off of roster updates for MVP 2005

I don't know why MVP CB I found spectacular, but MVP BB(MLB) so ho-hum.
Gonna dig out College Baseball again and just give it a go for a bit.

I would agree. As a series, MVP is overrated. They had one good year of the game. Remember in 04 when you couldn't hit for any power with lefties?

IMO.....without mods on PC.....even the "vaunted" MVP2005 is a mediocre game.
With them....above average at best.

Not to mention all of the other little features that just had you coming back for more. Yes I do not think it should be worshiped like a God but MVP baseball 2005 is not overrated at all. Like I said Earlier your entitled to your own opinion, just as I am to mine.
Disagree. Highheat in the early 2000s was incredibly deep for a game of its time. I want to say it peaked with the one that had sammy sosa on the cover. MVP 05 was close, but still suffered from EAitis (1/2 finished ideas all over the place).

I think it depends on what one is looking for. I think, as a baseball simulation, that you'd be right. It did some things quite well and other things came off as very arcade-like.

I think as a videogame though, (mechanics, fluidity, etc) it was well above average even without mods. As others have said, it introduced mechanics that games have been using and/or building from for several years now.

That said, with MVP (much like NFL 2K5-which I still play btw) nostalgia, coupled with it being cut down early by exclusivity, has lead to people greatly exaggerating just how good it really was.

I almost feel bad for both EA and MVP's diehard fans if/when a new game does release, as I don't think it could possibly ever live up to the legend the years have made it into.
