Cubs might hit rock bottom if they get swept by the Reds tomorrow.

And yet....3 games off the division lead.

If the Jays can't scrape by with a victory today I say it's time to do a rebuild on the fly. I know they're somewhat still in it for the 2nd wild card but it's not looking realistic especially since I don't feel so optimistic about the next couple series.

The Cardinals winning is actually a bad thing I think. We will start thinking we can do something this year, make unnecessary trades that don't result in us doing anything in the playoffs, even if we make it, and therefore selling off assets that can help us in the future.

Mookie with 8 RBIs today. Love sticking it to the Jays, even more so while they celebrate Canada Day weekend.

Re: 6/26 - 7/9 Game Discussion Thread

Cubs looking to make sure they don't get swept...up 6-0 in the 8th at GABP with homers from Rizzo and Happ.

By the way, despite the lackluster play of the team overall (41-41 likely after today), it is pretty incredible to think about the track record of this org developing young hitters. They reclaimed Rizzo, fixed Baez, made Bryant and Schwarber 1st Rd picks that were quick to the majors as impact bats.

Happ with 2 bombs and a stolen base today; he's at .264/.331/.566 with 12 HR 27 RBI in 45 games (116 wRC+) about a 4 WAR/season pace. According to statcast, Happ is also about the 15th fastest player in baseball this season (just ahead of Jarrod Dyson). Prototypical power/speed guy, but with a batting eye to boot. If Cody Bellinger wasn't a thing, Happ would be getting some NL ROY consideration.

Can I just say that as a Cubs fan, I love the Cardinals fan mentality here and how it's changed so much over the past 2-3 yrs.
