Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is the sequel to 2015's Helldivers, which was a top-down shooter. It released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on 8 February 2024

$40 right now, and I had a coupon for $20 off.

Super fun and chaotic. Lots of problems for PC users yesterday, apparently!

Looks a lot of fun. Some of the early reviews that I saw mentioned that it was a bit shallow at this point. Reminding me a lot of Warhammer: Darktide's release from a couple of years ago (a fun game that needed about a year of live-service content delivery before it really felt like a full game). I would definitely jump on it if I could get it half off though.

It is a mindless fun game. I like the challenge of running solo, feels more intense that way. Squading up really isn't needed until you get to the higher difficulty planets.

My buddy and I played this so much in college years ago. Really fun game in spurts. $40 is a good price point for what it is. I'll pick this up later this year for sure

I was able to pick this up for $30, and I have mixed feelings.

I like the chaos and gun play is solid. The dialogue is also pretty hilarious.

I hate the stategem mechanic. It certainly adds to that chaos, but it's pretty unintuitive to stop in the middle of being zerged, then try to read out a button combination that ranges between 3 and like 8 key strokes. Granted it might not bother me quite as much if I were on controller instead, but I don't think that I will ever be a fan of it.

Lack of automatic reload is a particularly annoying part of the game design as well. I'm sure that I will get used to it, but it is odd for a game to force gamers to adjust from a staple that has been a part of every fps/3ps shooters game in at least the last 20 years.

You can remap the stratagem buttons to something like arrow keys that way you can sprint around while putting in the codes. I've been playing this game non stop, too much fun with friends or even randoms. Lots of fun on high difficulties even with everyone trolling each other.

Had some fun games with Lirik on Twitch, these were my favorite clips.
