Gran Turismo 5 News Post

According to WorthPlaying, Gran Turismo 5 might be on its way to the PC.

Quote:
"While GT 5 Prologue is already available in Europe, it will not show up in stores on Blu-ray, or downloadable on PSN until April 15. Even further out is the actual full GT5 game, which according to SCEA associate producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda is still about a year away. While the franchise is unlikely to appear on any non-Sony consoles, Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi revealed in an interview with Austrian newspaper Der Standard that Gran Turismo 5 might make an appearance on the PC."

What's the point? There already are games that look as good or better than GT 5 on a quality PC with a good monitor, such as GTR 2, rFactor and RACE 07, and those games actually are proper sims with damage models, decent AI, etc.

And rFactor has tons of FREE mods and tracks. There's no way Sony will allow GT 5 to be modded, and it will nickel-and-dime gamers to death on microtransactions to get more cars and tracks.

Again, what's the point?

Take care,
PK

Because more choice is always good. You know I'm a big rFactor fan. But, really if you look at the games you just mentioned, rFactor and its associated mods are the only game in town on the PC. GTR2 and Race 07 are in effect professionally done rFactor mods, to inform others reading not privy to it.

I see no real negatives in letting GT into the PC mix. I think also GT5 is a different market than the league focused rFactor games. And if GT5 comes in and starts wiping up the floor and makes ISI step up rFactor dev, it can only be a positive.

Also, maybe if GT5 sells well on the PC, it opens up the market for other driving sims. More choice, the merrier.
