Today Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) officially unveiled the Madden NFL 17 cover art, featuring New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski. EA and ESPN jointly revealed the cover live during the 6pm ET/3pm PT edition of SportsCenter, alongside a video debuting this year’s game. In Madden NFL 17, players on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 can take their team all the way with new gameplay features that elevate the ground game, arming teams for success on both sides of the ball.

“It’s great to finally be able to share with the world that Gronk will be joining our cover fraternity,” said Josh Rabenovets, Senior Director of Global Marketing at EA SPORTS. “He’s one of the most fun, dominant and exciting players in the league, and it’s awesome to feature the famed Gronk Spike on the Madden NFL 17 cover.”

Gronkowski is one of the most decorated tight ends in the NFL, holding the season record for most touchdowns by a tight end in a season, as well as a four-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl Champion. He’s widely regarded as one of the most physically dominant players in the league, and was the highest-rated tight end in Madden NFL 16.

“It’s a really special honor to appear on the cover of Madden NFL 17,” said Gronkowski. “It’s one of those things that pretty much every guy in the league secretly dreams of, so to actually be the one on the cover, it’s a really big deal.”

EA also released a Madden NFL 17 video today showcasing Gronkowski and the first of several new features for next-gen consoles in this year’s game. Fans can check out the Madden NFL 17 website to learn more about improvements to the ground game, including a new path assist feature, new defensive AI and expansion of ball carrier special moves, which give players new creative controls on the ground, all of which are featured on the Xbox One and PlayStation®4 versions of the game.

EA Access* members can try Madden NFL 17 before it’s released for a limited time as part of a Play First Trial, only on Xbox One.

Madden NFL 17 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360®, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 on August 23. To learn more about Madden NFL 17, visit http://www.easports.com/madden-nfl.

Exact same pose that was posted in the other thread as well. Nice troll job EA.

Craziness, I went to High School with him and he was on my hockey team when I was 11. I remember he was one of the best players in every sport he played and when we played hockey everyone was afraid of him because he was so tall and had a wicked slapshot.

Really cool to see him on the cover, some funny memories with that guy...he's always been a clown.

Interesting choice. Trailer was pretty bleh

Was it just me, or did anyone else notice the two color cleats in that clip?

No surprise there, after the 'placeholder' images..

Noticed one-arm sleeves on a couple Jets players as well as a new fake field goal. The one-arm sleeves are still wrong though. They cover the whole arm and wrist and are basically the same as RGIII has had the last several years.

Not getting my hopes up. That short trailer wasn't impressive.

Let's hope that was just a teaser and there's a longer one coming. Would be nice to have that video online to pause and rewind in HD.

The player movements look familiar to me. I like those new cleats they added in. And hopefully they add the Riddell Speedflex helmets in.

I was going to say, those are new cleats which means they finally updated some equipment!

I also noticed the white gloves he was wearing had a swoosh down the middle, that's new.

I hope we get Cam's UA Highlite cleat this year.. lots of guys wearing those now.

And this was my biggest fear, they would implement the sleeve but in a lazy way. I hate one long sleeve t-shirt look

Lol. No doubt. If that was the trailer, I agree with everyone, not much to see there. But, it's the 1st look which is always, 'eh'. Lol. As for Gronk being the cover. I can't deny he is a great, strong TE. I don't care whether he parties or not, so I don't judge that part of his life. But, God, he just seems like such a meathead. Listening to him on this sports center is pretty painful. Lol

Agreed, they looked awful. The cleats look great though but I think I've only seen one variation of new gloves but hopefully there's more.

Lol. I have to add, listening to the Gronk some more, pretty sure if he wasn't born with the genetics of a beast, he would've been quite a weenie, otherwise. Lol.

Idk why they can't just retexture that silly "arm wrap" they have to make it look like a real sleeve.

Check the gloves on these guys. They look like the ones Sherman wore on the cover of 15.
