I saw all six movies of the Star Wars series in the theatre. I loved the original trilogy as a kid and still enjoy watching those movies today although I really didn’t like the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. The new trilogy is another story. I never loved any of these movies. I went and saw all of them in the theatre and largely came away disappointed every time. Some fans really do enjoy the new trilogy but I’m not one of them and will outline four areas where the new movies failed in comparison ... Read More

Everybody loves to root for the underdog. If you aren’t a fan of two teams in a game or playoff series, many people have an underlying desire to root for the upset. We boo teams like the Yankees who use their wealth to give them a competitive advantage. We boo the BCS for not giving little teams like Utah or Boise St. a shot at the national championship. We fill out our NCAA Basketball brackets trying to pick that #12 seed upset and rooting against the top teams from going the distance. But ... Read More

Here are the sales figures across all platforms listed by vgchartz.com through the beginning of December (North America only). The king of all sporting games is still football and Madden leads the pack. What I find interesting is the number of 360 sales versus PS3 sales and how they vary by sport. The 360 still leads the way in every category but it's definitely a higher ratio for 2K games versus EA games. Still a significant number of PS2 sales but they are now less than PS3 sales for every game. ... Read More

I’m one of those guys that have a hard time just “accepting” a TV show or movie. It has to be somewhat realistic within the context of the show. That means I have no problem accepting the “force” in Star Wars or the creation of Spiderman who clings to buildings and swings on webs through New York. I enjoy science fiction movies and comic book characters and I can overlook minor flaws here and there. I loved Star Wars (the original trilogy), Transformers, Spiderman (1 and 2 only) as well as Iron ... Read More

Both Colorado and USC enter the championship game as the only undefeated teams in the country. Both were ranked #1 and #2 in both overall defense and run defense. There was one key difference though as USC also lead the nation in scoring offense while Colorado’s conservative offense lacked the playmaking wide receivers that USC had.

The game started poorly for Colorado. With USC up 3-0, Colorado’s quarterback Earl Herron threw a curl route that was jumped and returned for a score. ... Read More

… every time I heard:

“The BCS sucks! We need a playoff!”

“I can’t wait for 2K to get the NFL license again.”

“2K5 was the greatest football game ever created.”

“Madden sucks.”

"We need a new engine."

“Rudy’s awesome.”

Coach Rudy took over a young team six years ago and quickly turned it into a contender in the Big 12. He took the Buffaloes to a remarkable 9-3 regular season in his first year and the Big 12 Championship only to lose. The next four years were remarkably consistent winning 9 or 10 games each year and usually beating his rivals. In his fifth year, the Buffaloes managed to go undefeated in the regular season. Sitting at 12-0 they were looking for their first Big 12 Championship along with a National ... Read More

It’s been over four years since EA bought the exclusive license for the NFL. This was a deal that the NFL deserves as much blame as anyone and people still talk about it often. The absence of an NFL game by the 2K series has left a very bitter taste in people’s mouths. The slow evolution of Madden on next gen has also frustrated many football fans. But this is no excuse to behave like an ignorant jerk slamming people from behind a computer screen.

Ian Cummings has made himself available ... Read More

There are two types of trolls on OS. The obvious moronic kind who screams nothing intelligent and gets banned or warned quickly. The second troll is the “repetitive troll” who thinks he is doing everyone a favour by repeating his well thought out criticisms over and over again. For some reason, they just keep on repeating themselves. I discovered three myths these people cling to in order to justify their behaviour.

Myth #1: OS Posters are Dumb

Assuming the average OS ... Read More

Rich Rodriguez has been a very good college football coach. He’s still a good coach and will be in the future. I just don’t see that future being at Michigan.

Some marriages just seem destined for failure. The two people may be very nice but something just isn’t right with them together. That’s my feeling about Rich Rodriguez and Michigan. This whole thing has been an uncomfortable union. It started off rocky with the botched coaching search that was supposed to land Les Miles. ... Read More

I played soccer as a kid. It was fine to get some exercise in while we waited for a better sport’s season to begin. But make no mistake. Soccer sucks. It’s boring.

Soccer fans will tell you that you should give it a chance. Once you learn the sport you will appreciate it. Why should I watch a bunch of pansies fake an injury every time they get breathed on? Why should I watch a sport wear uniforms resembling a NASCAR vehicle? When scoring two goals in a game is exciting count ... Read More

Video games have existed on many formats. We’ve had cartridges, compact discs, DVDs, Blu Ray discs and now the ever-increasing Digital Distribution format. Companies are starting to push direct sales to the consumer through paid downloads. This method is being used to sell a lot of older or lower priced games. It was an option for gamers buying Gran Turismo 5 Prologue as well.

But who really prefers a downloaded game when you can actually own a disc, the instructions and the packaging ... Read More

After losing to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, #5 Colorado (12-1) still got invited to the Rose Bowl to face undefeated and #3 ranked USC. Maybe I should have declined the invite.

USC jumped on me early. I went three and out, punting from my 10-yard line. On their first play from scrimmage their small and fast RB broke to the outside for a 40+ yard TD run. I clawed back and was down 7-3 when I threw an interception they returned for a TD. Suddenly I’m down 14-3. Following ... Read More

Sports and gaming website Operation Sports (OS) has been hit by a number of lawsuits in recent days. After an upgrade to its’ services which added many Facebook functions, users have been thrilled and excited about some of the new changes. The new “OS Arena” has been very well received although maybe too much so. There have been complaints of addiction and obsession with the new site.

One OS member, roswell47, is now suffering from carpal tunnel. After posting many blogs and screenshots ... Read More

After four years of struggling to become an elite team, the Colorado Buffaloes finally emerged as a force in their 5th season on NCAA Football '09. Ranked #1 in the country and 12-0, they faced a rematch with the #6 Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma's only loss on the year had been to Colorado in a thrilling game where CU scored with a minute left to win 27-23.

Unfortunately, the great Buffalo defense failed to stop Oklahoma. They scored touchdowns on three of their first four possessions ... Read More
