He's arguing with far more than one person.

Clam: You are indeed the one doing the beating, a number of people have given points that go against our argument. Its fine if you still don't agree, but its doubtful you'll be changing anyone's mind at this stage.

Render has now cast his second vote that appears to be pretty decisive. The St. Cronin vote (which I admittedly shared) turned out to be a win for the wolves. I'm not conviced that there was any attempt to save Anxiety then, and Render has made "saving Anxiety" somewhat perjorative now.

From what little I know, that seems wolfish to me.

I suppose it could look that way. Anxiety is the popular vote today. The comment was made that it looked like path was hanging around to use his vote as a saving grace for anxiety yesterday, so I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to push that suggestion again today.

Piss poor luck is the only excuse for yesterday's lynching of Danny Ocean. He's not a huge loss anyway as it wasn't much more than a typical day 1 villager lynch. is win conditions were difficult to accomplish at best.

I'm not sold that Anxiety is in fact a wolf, but he is the leading vote getter and testing the waters to see if anyone comes to his rescue is at least a positive move at this point. If I feel threatened near deadline I'll certainly move my vote to save myself.

I think part of it is that Blade is not playing anymore, and it was definately a Blade sort of tactic, so we just assumed it left with him. Plus hoops aint playing this game, and its the sort of things he;d pull too.

I think bad guy or no we have to give Anxiety a break. Voting in self defense is the best vote possible and Anxiety did vote early so it's not like he held his vote so he could cast it in "self defense". If I were a bad guy I'd be upset about being on the block two days in a row, rather than happy at having plausible deniability for later on.

It was 6-4 when I unvoted, I wanted to know if the wolves would ride to his rescue, they still might, but if they do it will be more obvious as well. I watched all day as pepole kept Anxiety ahead for the most part. If he were a wolf the tide would have turned by now IMO.

With an hour and a half left to go there's still tons of time for the wolves to move votes if they need to.. you know, like you declaring that he's not a wolf and moving your vote off... thus trying to buy some level of trust for both of you as villagers.

Yeah, I know. That's what I'm puzzling about though, because there isn't a great reason I can see for clapham to false reveal as veteran. Besides, even if he is really the veteran but gets lynched, it seems pretty clear he would be taking Barkeep with him, and I don't agree with that at all.

The team has had to leave the glitz and glory of the strip and are on the run from Benedict and crew. As you sit around the historic Binion's Horseshoe down on Freidmont Street, a debate begins to rage. There has to be a traitor among you. Fingers are pointed, fisticuffs ensue, and ultimately you decide that the traitor must be RendeR...

"Hey, hey, hey, you got the wrong guy, it ain't me," begins RendeR. He spends the next five minutes working the room with the skill and confidence of a Vegas showman until he's won you all over. He looks over all of you and raises his finger towards Lathum.

"There's your guy," he says.

All eyes go to Lathum.

"NO, not him," RendeR says, "The guy behind him, Chesapeake."

And with that, you tie Chesapeake up and dump him in the rooftop pool, naked and unconscious and you call hotel security to take him away.

As they take him, RendeR picks up Chesapeake's wallet. It reads Sam Harmon, simple villager.

Well first I'll admit, nothing very concrete here. My basic premise was that we were facing villager v. villager on Day One (we know Cronin was, and it's looking like Anxiety is). So the wolves decided to just steer clear (not that I think ALL THREE of your are wolves)

Pass - You aren't playing like I've normally witnessed you playing. Plus your votes have been basic nothings, NTN and Anxiety. It doesn't seem like you've taken a real stance on anything, possibly playing the UTR wolf card.

SnDvls - Strange vote for RendeR on Day One. Admittedly though, Day one votes are weak I know.

Path - Also seems to be playing differently from what I've picked up, though he did mention he was busy or in a foul mood (or both, I forget which). The odd thing to me was the late vote for Clap on Day Two. Just seemed like a strange place to put a vote at the time.

What exactly is odd about my vote? There was a two vote margin between Render and Anxiety (I don't really have much of a read on either so didn't feel compelled to put my vote on one of them), and as I mentioned there was something about claphams reveal that just seemed off to me, so I voted for him.

Meh, it just felt wasted to me (along the lines of the Day one scenario where the wolves may have just decided to avoid the V vs. V debate). I don't see how his reveal could be faked, no one really seemed to be leaning towards calling him on it, and if it's not fake then we're wasting a potentially valuable member of a future COT. It seemed to me to have these elements

- A wolf staying out of a Villager vs Villager fight
- A wolf possibly trying to re-up interest in voting a COT person
- A vote that *appears* as if it's meaningful but in reality isn't

Just my vibe off the whole deal.

Barkeep49

path: really? What seemed off? Basically by saying it's off you're accusing him of doing a fake reveal. What scenario did you have in mind that would justify the fake reveal? At that point in time clap was as about as close to a trusted player as we had, and basically is trusted by me at this point, and yet you voted for him, with a vote that was, by your own admission, meaningless. The meaningless late vote against an overhwelmingly likely good guy is off and strange. And thus worthy of my vote.

Loyal Wolf: You function as a regular wolf, but have the ability to change one lynching from the selected candidate to the person of your choosing. You will know this role from the beginning.

Just noticed.. the wolves could have a duke too. So there's a possibility that RendeR's not on our side. But in that case I'd think that the villager wolf would speak up.. assuming that we have one.

path: really? What seemed off? Basically by saying it's off you're accusing him of doing a fake reveal. What scenario did you have in mind that would justify the fake reveal?

Here are some thoughts as to why this could be a fake reveal:

1) Because there are fewer players than normal, certain stated roles are not in the game. The wolves may be aware of which are in play (as happened last game or the one before, I forget which).
2) Twice yesterday as claphamsa was taking the vote lead a surge of votes came on Anxiety to tie it up.
3) claphamsa could be a brutal wolf.

I don't think those are out of line for a vote, and as I mentioned before, I didn't have a good feeling about either Render or Anxiety (I don't get any views this game).

I'd also point out that by waiting both days so far and making a late vote, I'm inviting more scrutiny on my votes than usual, which is really not the strategy I'd normally apply as a wolf, where I'd be far more happy to just kind of follow along with the consensus.

So if you want to vote me for that, feel free. I don't think I've done anything to warrant it though.

What was strange about SD's vote for RendeR? I don't remember it.

jeheinz72

Telle nice catch! Completely forgot about that possibility this game. I think it's less likely there is a both a villager and a wolf duke. So which one is Render? I don't know. I do know, however, that 50/50 is better than any other odds I'm getting today. I still don't trust path. But Render's the better play.

Unvote path
Vote Render

Is he really though? It just seems like a lot of conjecture to get to where RendeR is a bad guy. The villager duke would have to not be countering his claim. While it could allegedly be 50/50, I don't think it really is. Since we have a lot to lose if we're wrong (namely someone who would be in our COT).

Frankly, this switch has me thinkin' about your loyalties here BK

jeheinz72
11-28-2007, 12:57 PM
dola, I don't really think it's 50/50 either. 50/50 would be if we knew Render and PlayerX both had duke abilities and we were picking between one of them.

What we have here ix X% where that's the chance that both roles are in the game and RendeR holds the bad one. For all we know

A) The bad duke role isn't in the game
B) RendeR is the good duke role and the Wolvish Duke of course isn't coming forward

ntndeacon
11-28-2007, 12:58 PM
Just noticed.. the wolves could have a duke too. So there's a possibility that RendeR's not on our side. But in that case I'd think that the villager wolf would speak up.. assuming that we have one.

I thought of this too. I don't think that Render should be voted for on this case though. I tend to believe he is the duke.

Yeah, I've probably been more quiet than usual. I don't really play the UTR wolf, though -- when I'm a wolf, I'm in it to win it, not to just slide under the radar.

I disagree that my votes have been nothing votes. I put the first vote on Anxiety yesterday, with the intention of seeing if another effort would be made to save him. After two days, I think that it's most likely that he's not a wolf, but I'm still a littl cautious -- the wolves could have been biding their time.

I'm a bit skeptical of path, but I can see his side of things, so I want to see how things progress for as long as I can. I'm not sure Telle's argument necessarily gives me reason to vote for RendeR, so I still see him as neutral at this time.

Let me know if that doesn't clear everything up for you!

I guess mylogic is this: how many games have you ever seen where the wolves had a Duke and the good guys didn't?

now how many times have you seen a game where the good guys have a Duke ability possible and it wasn't actually there?

It makes no sense at all that the wolves would have a duke and the villagers NOT have one. Either they're both in or only the good one is.

I'm the persuader. If you think I'm the wolf-duke, then the real persuader needs to speak out and contradict me. They can't of course because I AM the persuader.

Render: I have seen lots of games with the duke being a bad guy and there was no good duke. This is, however, one of the few games I can recall that has the possibility of having both a good and evil duke. I do, however, feel the duke is exactly the sort of role which would be ommitted in a game where not all roles are included.

So based on that I feel there is only 1 duke in the game. Now, with that supposition it's a coinflip as to whether render is good or evil. A coinflip is better odds, for me, than any other possibility. I am hardly convinced of his being evil, but I like the possibility better than anyone else, as really the only other person pinging my radar is path.

It's simple. I like to vote based on supposition, I need to beleive that there is a good in game reason for a person to behave in that way, and then I;m comfortabel vating that way.

Saying you might be an evil duke is one thing, but providing context to that by illustraing how your behavior fits that statement is somehtign else entirely, and more convincing for me.

The coin flip comment was an aside relating to the fact that you have a 50/50 choice of "renders a bad duke, render's a good duke" and you decided, "IMO" as you said, that I'm bad.

Now please, validate that vote, at least admit you're guessing because you have no evidence to back it up with.

I at least have stated exactly why I duked Chesapeake, I was wrong, indeed. He was not a wolf. Sucks to be me because I wasted a duking. But to continue coming after me for doing so seems IMO, to be a really bad play.

I'll add that the way you, BK and Anxiety are all hopping this train looks pretty poorly on all of you as well. If you Lynch me and I turn up as the Persuader that I AM, then the rest of the village best be hanging you three one right after another.

My ability is gone but having a GOOD role alive and voting is not worthless in any way. Why are you after me so badly Lathum? Why does it make MORE sense that I'm bad than Good?

Why, if I'm bad, has the real Persuader NOT come out and outed me? Either way I die, the BG protects the real one and you all get a head start on winning this. Lynch me and you'll be proven 1 of two things, a bad playmaker or a wolf trying to lynch away a villager that can be trusted.

If what you say is true and players take more risks as villagers than as wolves:

What seems more likely? That I took the big risk in duling to ches as a good duke or as a bad one? Using the ability like that is a huge risk for the bad duke because it does exactly what we see here, it gets people coming after him. So based on your own theory, it would have been utterly stupid of me to use the ability so early without knowing that my target was worthwile.

Lynching me is WIN WIN for the wolves. They get rid of a CoT player and they kill another villager.

you can never be in a COT unless you are scanned and come up good.

There may not be a persuader for one. For another you are getting heat now. If I was the persuader I would wait to see if you are going to be lynched before I unneccesaraly outed myself.

Not to mention IMO if someone came out as the real persuader we are all going to vote for them anyway and they would duke to you. So what's the point?

it seems like you are trying to bait someone into revealing something.

It is possible I am wrong but if I am so be it. You are essentialy dead weight at this point.

I'd have to agree, RendeR could be the beginning of a COT for us along with possible Claphamsa. Voting him off just seems silly to me. The numbers don't add up. The no-counter-reveal doesn't add up. The only one I could be persuaded to move to at this point would be path.

there is no way I will trust Render unless the seer clears him

Explain this, You have NO real reason beyond a gut feeling here. you have a 0/50 shot at being right and I hate to break it to you, but yer wrong, again, about me.

Why do you always have a stick up the butt about me? You drive votes against me constantly, and you've never been right?

*takes a breath* *sighs* anyway. Beyond lathum's personel death warrent for me, why are the rest of your voting for what is normally a trusted role? The simple possibility that there is an evil opposite? Or is there some real evidence?

Come on people, stop following Lathum's coattails like well beaten dogs. Give pepole some validation for taking out a good role villager!

If the seer scans me, how are they supposed to get that info to YOU Lathum? I'm all for it, but I want you to stop this attempt to OUT the seer by demanding that its the only way you'll trust me. Talk about wolfish. Others have bad vibes about you, but this really makes my skin crawl.
