Wierd. I underestimated the time between refreshes. I'm watching now and it is about 20-30 seconds between refreshes, but it is definitely moving for me on its own. It's not a huge deal and may be a result of something quirky with the way my work laptop is setup with security and such - I just have to watch what time I'm at and click on the play by play link and scroll down.

In broad terms, how does a recruit's decision-making process work? If they have a good impression of multiple schools, are they more likely to hold off committing? Is there a chance of them committing to a school that isn't the one of which they have the most favorable impression?
Coffee Warlord

Okay, I'm good, I'm not THAT good. :)
Rough overview of what goes on in Randy Dexter's head...
Randy starts off with 2 desires. One is known, one is not. The one that's not is slightly less important to him, but to schools, it's the wildcard that one can only guess after watching his opinion of your school.
Randy, with all his little buddies, has just how long he wants to wait to decide on a school in his head. And just how much a school has to woo him before he will even bother considering. His buddies may want to sign much, much earlier than him. It varies.
A few weeks of schools giving Randy hookers, money, and cars pass. Randy likes a few, and hates a few. Our boy Randy has his personal list of schools he likes. At this point, even if he likes one more than the others, he COULD decide to go to any of them. It's of course, more likely Randy goes to the one that fits all his needs and gives him the most hookers, but Randy could indeed decide to go for one who paid slightly less. So long as they reach Randy's pre-determined "breaking point", he might go there. He's much more apt to choose the bigguns, but the borderline ones do have a shot.
Make sense?

If you're going to break the rule about registering multiple teams and not get caught, you might want to not come in from the exact same IP, use the same email address, and have both your teams from the same city.

Too bad I won't have my superstud Senior C to pair next to him, but I've got some very solid C's and SF's coming up through my younger group.
I'm very curious to see how much development we see over the off-season as that could make or break a lot of teams.. I know the rate at which they're training doesn't seem to be enough to get them to their full potential, so I'm hoping they can increase a bit in the off-season.

Actually, mathmatically, the average to above average training cap recruit will be very close to fully developed by their late junior to early senior year, on average.

I may just be impatient, I'll definitely admit that..
I'm not saying anything is falwed or anything.. just musing about my team really...
One of the great things about college sports is how often you say to yourself that you wish you could have had that superstar new freshman with the senior that graduated last year.. - but it doesn't work that way, you have a limited window... with my team right now, that is definitely reflected well ;)

Dammit CW, it was my friend I knew it'd be him. It was my gut feeling.
Listen, I recommended TBB to him blind. He is not on FOFC, has never been on FOFC, or heard of FOFC.
He lived with me last year and now we still keep in touch.
So he probably didn't know about the dual emails. Here's the text exchange I got about 2 hours ago (was in a movie, just got home).
Tyler (culprit): Cody signed up with some dumb team and got me deleted look at office pimps
Me (friend of culprit): Are you kiddin me ill see if i can do anything
Tyler: He made 1 with my email o it was 2 names then he tried again today and it was all fucked up
Me: Why did your email?
Tyler: I dunno he didnt want junk mail so i was like fuck it
Me: I should have told u about that
And the "created 5 other accounts" thing was prob a panic move to get a team back. Trust me, he is not the type of guy to even want 1 more team. He had his Granville Blue Aces, his HS team and was satisfied with that for 3 weeks. You think he really wanted to run 6 teams or something? Please just issue a slap on the wrist, for me dude. Bad matchup. They played us tight in the away game as well. Their big men don't score, but I think they defend pretty well, because they held Chapman well below his season scoring average. (As well, they closed the game on a big run, we had previously led by more than ten.)

Well, Chapman averages 14.8 and only scored 8, and that's with EU playing man-to-man.
Hmm.
They played three guards and a small forward at center... two of them are at least reasonable height-wise, but one SG and one PG are both under 6', they should be abused by a good center, particularly in a low post offense.

I don't see why 3, even 4 games a week would be too much. There's really nothing more than changing a defensive set to be done, which is all of four clicks.

We upset #3 GDI in our last game. A 16-2 run sparked our win as we had the lead pretty much the whole game.Yeah, y'all took me behind the woodshed, even with your center and pf shooting 3-25. You outrebounded me 38-26, which I think was big. My Star 6'10 PF who is at least 9's across the board and 11 in strength is only averaging 4.7 rebounds a game in 30 mpg, the same as my 5'7 SF. I need FM team talks so I can call him a pussy and give him extra sprints.
Questions for CW - If I'm recruiting a guy with a GPA below 2.00, will he show up at school just needing the extra study hall to get/stay eligible, or is there a chance he can't enroll? (I'm assuming not.) And just how much does height play a role? Hopefully not too much, because I just noticed I'm going after a 6'0 PF haha. And what happens with the CPU schools and teams that haven't recruited. Do the unsigned recruits get randomly assigned or are they just going to get walk-ons? Oh, and can you change my team's name - I was either drunk or confused when I signed up and there's no reason for the Great Diamond Island to be in there, it's just redundant. One other thing that would be helpful are team stats.
Any discussion on the possible changes? More frequent games appears to be happening, but whether that leads to 3 or 4 a week appears to be up in the air. This would also necessitate either an increase in the frequency of recruiting/training updates or some grouped together before/after the season. The weekly schedule would seem to be worth talking about. I'm also a fan of some non-con games either before conference play starts or after the 1st half.

I'm going to start a new thread once this season is over with and open the floor to changes. A faster pace for games is one thing that's set in stone, lot of other things are up in the air. We'll take a break once the season ends to implement the changes that are decided upon.

Tourney is posted, games start 1/6. Round runs each day till it's all over.
The big favorites, no surprise, are the two #1 seeds, both sitting at 21-1 records.

Lost a close one in my second to last matchup, then redeem ourselves even greater by beating HA's Dean Houston squadron. Plus, we are ranked for the first time all season @ #23!

I think I just had a recruit sign a letter of intent without actually having been offered a scholarship. Is that supposed to be possible?

You sure? I cannot fathom how that's possible.

I don't know about Katon's scenario, but I'm kind of surprised to see all of these uncommitted kids still..

Hmmmm, here is an interesting issue.
I can only offer 3 scholarships.
But as soon as 1 guy signs I can offer another.
So I can have 3 outstanding offers at a time, but as soon as 1 is signed Its like I can offer as many as I want again. Currently I have 3 signed and 3 more offers out.
Is this working properly?
BTW 3 signed 5star prospects...hopefully we arent on the all chump team next year.

You sure? I cannot fathom how that's possible.
I have five graduating seniors, so that should mean five scholarships. I now have three players committed - Jim Reid, Darryn Lobato, and Daniel Klee(the problem signing). I also have three players who I am currently heavily recruiting with offer of a full scholarship, according to the "Your Recruits" page and to the spreadsheet where I've been planning my recruiting. Reid and Lobato I had made offers to before they signed; that makes five scholarships.
I was heavily recruiting Klee, but I don't think I made him an offer - or that I had a spare scholarship to offer him. I almost offered one to him instead of one of the guys I'm still recruiting, and I'm certainly glad to land him, but I'm not entirely sure how he got here.
eta: Just saw CU Tiger's post, and that might explain my problem about the number of scholarships, since I landed Reid a couple of weeks ago and then Lobato last week. If it was possible for me to have had offers out to Klee and to the other three at the same time, then that could be what's going on, since all I can say for sure is that Klee was not one of my top three targets when he signed.

I think you're able to offer 1 more schalarship than you have available.

We have a national champion.
We have results from this year's pro draft.
Champions have been listed.
Recruiting finishes monday, and then I kill her for a while while we discuss/implement next season's updates.

My only request is that you somehow save this years stats to make career stats listed on player pages
Coffee Warlord

The stats are saved, however, at this time, I have no means to display them. But fear not, I don't overwrite stats, so it can be done.

I've made a couple of observations on the public board. Thoughts about interseason recruiting, griping about playing a road game in the second round of the tourney despite being the better seed.

So I've had 4 guys accept my scholly offers, which should be my max, but I still have two guys with offers. Do I need to revoke those, or will they just go away?
Coffee Warlord
01-14-2008, 09:46 AM
No, they'll just sit there. You won't actually get them once you're maxed on commits.

Downtime for updates may be a bit later than expected. The job that actually pays the bills is fairly busy, and traditionally speaking, the last thing I wanna do after coming home from a busy day is...wrte more code. :)

Well, I did only get my second choice PG (which might have been third or lower if I'd had a backup plan before Jang went elsewhere) and my second or third choice C.
Katon
01-15-2008, 03:31 PM
Four 5* and one 4* (who'll probably spend his entire career as a backup to one of my other recruits).
Mr. Wednesday

And I should further add that my second-choice C only had one other offer IIRC.

Job hunting, house hunting and with less people at the office of the current job, this is somewhat low on my list of priorities. Still been dwelling on things, but I just can't afford the time to sit down and concentrate on it for the time being.
