I don't think Hegseth's "pastor" understands that Christ was crucified for challenging clergy on their false teachings. I honestly think many American Conservative "Christians" don't actually like Jesus.

I mean, Anglicans in the Global South and/or Evangelical movements in those parts of the world too. The main difference is the money the two you mentioned have combined to implment their lens.

Haven't head much from or about DeSantis. Is he purposely laying low and letting everyone around Trump shoot themselves in the foot or is he a non factor in the GOP at this point?
Well...
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/donald-trump-says-hed-consider-210322410.html
Ronnie just signed a law overturning city bans on gas powered lawn equipment so that would be something to look for out on the campaign trail.
Anyways, my guess is he is waiting to see what happens in the GOP gubernatorial primary. Byron Donalds is the frontrunner for the GOP nomination and has the Trump endorsement whatever that is still worth. DeSantis is not one of Donalds' biggest fans and would only back him if forced to. Ron's wife Casey still has not ruled out running for the office but she has had some issues with a certain $10 million donation that just so happened to be given to the nonprofit wing of an agency she was leading. At this point, those are really the only two options and both would have to make catastrophic errors for the nominee to go to anyone else. The primary is not until August 18th so there is plenty of time for things to change. After that I could see him positioning himself as the America First flag bearer but his pro Israel stances may come back to bite him in the ass. I feel pretty confident that he will take another shot at becoming President. He is not any more likeable but he will have an actual record to run on unlike some others like Vance, Cotton, Cruz , Rubio or Don Jr.

A lot can change but I feel like Rubio has lined himself up as the successor. DeSantis maybe has a shot if the stink of Trump is too much. But he ran such a dud of a campaign last time that I just don't see how he gets that juice back.
Cruz and Vance just seem so unlikeable that I don't know how they win a primary, let alone a general. Especially in what will likely be an incredibly tough cycle for Republicans in 2028 (I'm thinking similar to 2008).
I think their best bet is weirdly Tucker. He runs as the anti-war American first candidate which will be a popular position in 2028 as this Iran stuff continues to go South. Gets matched up against Newsome who runs as the pro-Israel pro-war candidate when those stances become as toxic as they come.

Luckily, Trump has gotten rid of the DEIs on the federal bench.
Sen. SCHIFF: Have you tried a case to verdict?
Trump nominee: I worked on a bench trial and handled seven as a clerk.
Schiff: The judge handles trials. Were you lead counsel?
Nom: No.
Schiff: Your trial experience is as second or third lawyer on one bench trial?
Nom: Yes.

The GOP made up an America First award to give to Trump. He must really be crashing out behind the scenes.
It's supposedly an annual award. Will they be presenting him with the same trophy next year or will someone else be as deserving or more of the honor?
Also on behalf of everyone... let's be honest on behalf of every guy who fixed his mouth to bitch about the six year olds getting trophies even though they did not win their rec soccer leagues, I would like to apologize to those kiddos. This administration has proven that random trophies to stroke someone's ego is super important whether you are six or eighty six.

The House GOP killed the DHS funding bill passed by the Senate.
But... they are encouraging the President to unilaterally fund TSA. Because the Constitution doesn't matter anymore and the President is allowed to tax and spend however he sees fit.

The woman that claims Trump, Epstein, and a 3rd man abused her when she was 13 had a lot of her story verified. Nothing directly linking her to Trump, but nearly every other part of her story so far has turned out to be accurate.
With any other President this would be a massive story and likely lead to impeachment with conviction. Instead, Trump gets to continue fucking up the world economy and dropping bombs out of anger.

There is a lot to dissect. So 2 affairs, one on a former 9/11 widow, one on a "gay" (possibly bisexual) man who enjoys exploitation online.
For me the gay/crossdressing/online is whatever, he can do him as long as he's honest with his spouse. The affairs are shitty regardless of the circumstances.
For some reason the problem for conservatives is the gay part, not the cheating part.
That's why we say they have no morals.

The problem with the gay part or this is these are the same people trying to take the rights away from other gay people. They believe they have the money, power, and influence to keep their lifestyle hidden but those that don't or choose to live their life openly should be punished.
The GOP likes to point out their perceived hypocrisy when libs make a big deal out of this, but they're missing the entire point of why they make it a big deal. No one outside of their own party cares about them being gay or living a non traditional lifestyle. You just can't actively work to oppress others while quietly living the same or similar life.

That sounds much bigger than it possibly is. It will be something the defense can try and use for some doubt, but it is far from concrete. The size and type of the fragment makes a big difference, and "inconclusive" does not mean "completely excludes."

Almost all of them were chosen specifically because they could be controlled. Gaetz had the child sex trafficking. Patel was living with his boyfriend in Vegas for years. Lutnick is running a ponzi scheme. McMahon has a husband who would likely be in prison for sex crimes. Hegseth is an alcoholic accused of sexual assault multiple times. Bondi was the one who covered up the child sex trafficking ring of Epstein in Florida. And the Rubio stuff has been around since the 90's.
Bringing in people with skeletons in their closet is a feature, not a bug.

So Trump issued an executive order tonight banning voting by mail even though he just did it last week for the Florida special election. He also says he's going to appear tomorrow when the Supreme Court has oral arguments on birthright citiizienry. which would be a first for a sitting President.
Trump is a complete joke. As someone who works in a global industry, I talk to people in many countries, and it is a shared feeling across continents. Everybody was kissing his ass to try and appeal to his narcissism, but this has proven to be a losing strategy, because he both needs this and despises it at the same time. So now they are beginning to push him and the USA away.
The only true winner of this is Putin.

You do know there is a difference between shell casing and the bullets fragments, right? They have the bullet casings with the engravings on them.
So far, they have him on the scene, with a gun his family owned, that had been fired, and him admitting to killing Kirk to several people. The inconclusive fragment is not likely going to get him off.

That would mean convincing the vast majority of this country on both sides of the aisle that using "their" money on those things is a benefit to the country and not some handout or forced charity for people who are underserving and/or unworthy of such benefit. Ironically, prisoners get basically free healthcare. They may pay a very small fee for visits they initiate themselves, but the bulk of their medical needs are provided free of charge.
"If everybody gets free healthcare, then child rapist would get free healthcare. So, Democrats want child rapist to get free healthcare."
During my little experiment listening to FOX News on my drive home about a week ago, this is exactly the strategy they were using with immigration. Democrats are protesting ICE, therefore they want open borders and want criminals to come across and rape your kids. I was trying to understand how the other side sees things. I couldn't believe it. This is one of those situations where he would rather twist himself into a pretzel than admit he is wrong. Like the tariffs' impact on farmers. His solution is to subsidize the farmers. I could see the same here - pay off the oil companies to make our gas prices cheaper.

I can't pick my favorite detail in the story.
- The visual of a U.S. official in the meeting picking up a 14th century weapon while at the same time invoking the Avignon Papacy. That would be corny for a movie much less something that actually happening.
- Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby telling Cardinal Christophe Pierre who is the Vatican’s U.S. representative that the U.S, “has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world. The Catholic Church had better take its side.” Hmm.... is that more Mafioso or Nazi regime?
- JD Vance who converted to Catholicism in 2019, was asked about this story and whether the comments by Colby to Pierre could be seen as a threat. The vice president was obviously preparing to "with all due respect" disrespect the cardinal before he found out the cardinal was the Vatican's representative to the U.S. before pivoting to saying that he had not seen the reporting and how it is a bad idea to offer an opinion on "stories that are unconfirmed and uncorroborated, so I’m not going to do that.” Once again, HE said that the story that he had not see, then said it is unconfirmed and uncorroborated.

It's not special treatment for Christianity or any religion. The same standard is applied to conservatives when it comes to Trump. When the crazies are largely running the asylum and driving culture change the rest have to answer for it or become attached to it by default.
Whether believers think it's fair or not, until people start to see more pushback from the non-crazy parts of the Christian faith, they're going to be lumped together by a significant portion of non-believers. It's easy to find countless examples online and in the media of church leaders and followers treating people shitty and completely ignoring the teachings that their book is based on. It's incredibly rare to see any pushback from the non-extreme believers that are always brought up in defense to create distance from the extreme.

There's a ton of pushback, it just doesn't have the media apparatus that the Christian nationalists have. Look at any number of Catholic nuns. Look at PCUSA, the Disciples of Christ, or the Episcopalians. Look at any number of Black churches.
The No Kings rallies have had a large component of Catholics and Protestants.
The ICE opposition has been full of Christians.

He was horribly unqualified for the job and apparently failing horribly. He effectively bought the job by donating to Trump's campaign. At least his replacement served in the Navy.
