Once more, your ears hear the sound of distant combat. You immediately rush towards the sound, trying to reach it in time to assist. Alas, you are too late. Thor's lifeless body lays before you, stabbed numerous times with a dagger. Judging by the deep wound in his back, his slayer may have gotten in a sneak attack to help bring the mighty warrior down.
Chubby was Thor. Day 6 now begins, please check PM's. |

Well that sucks. Normally wouldn't mind seeing a player with a seeming vendetta against me going... but it can't be good to lose Thor.

Has Autumn been a good boy or a bad boy? Will Santa give him coal or a trip to Valhalla? Ooooooooooooooo

Oh yes...
A bright light illuminates the night and partially blinds you. You can see the sillouhette of a female warrior standing over Autumn's body and you see a ghostly outline of Autumn leave his body and travel skyward with the female warrior. Then the light and the figures vanish from sight. Autumn has been accepted to Valhalla. |

Well, I'm wondering what is going on with the bodyguard. If Thor was able to survive a wound the night before, then tonight sure seems like a night that he had to be on Chubby. I'm not privy to the rules governing his decisions, but it seemed like a no-brainer to be there tonight.
The wolves were also pretty bold to take that shot, unless they know more than we do. |

If I had to guess it was an attack by Loki, his attack may be different from those by the standard wolves.

Hmmm. Sorry Autumn. Again. I have to admit my more paranoid side wants to believe that you're a wolf that shows up villager when you're dead but there's no way you would have a role like that in the game and not give some sort of hint about it. I would much rather we had lynched a villager Telle than a villager Autumn because I think that gives us a lot more information - but I would have switched my vote to Autumn at the deadline had I been around. Oh and because we still don't know if Telle is a villager, although I'll admit that the case against her doesn't look as convincing with Autumn being a villager. I'm still not seeing the case against ntn, other than him being his usual quiet self and I'm pretty surprised that he made an appearance in all this at all.

OK - clearly I have to hold up my hands and say that I got blinkered into thinking Autumn and Telle were certain wolves. I'll try to reassess although it's hard when you (well, ok then, I) get so certain about things.
I have a question for Barkeep, Bug and Hoops. But particularly Hoops. Did you really think there was a chance that Autumn could be a wolf and not Telle? Would a wolf really go to all that trouble to defend someone who is a villager. Chubby and I were clearly of the opinion that both were wolves so it's hard for me to knock you there. But it's pretty clear that lynching Telle would get us more info than lynching Autumn. In fact if you thought that Autumn was a wolf wouldn't the extent to which he was defending Telle make you think that Telle must have the more important role? I'm particularly interested in Hoops because he appears to have completely ignored the issue with the fake hammer. My main reason for voting Telle over Autumn is that I thought it would clear up the issue with the fake hammer. I knew that I hadn't done anything with it and I didn't think it very likely that Hoops had done anything with it. So either it must have been Telle or something that we don't really know about. Add the apparent link between Autumn and Telle and the cases made against Autumn and that seemed to add up to Autumn and Telle being in cohoots (yes, I constructed that entire sentence to use the word "cohoots" - it's too good a word to be ignored). Take a wolf Autumn out of the equation and I don't know what to think. |

I'm going to steal Racer's summary and add my own thoughts a bit. Mostly to organise my own thinking.
EagleFan – confirmed goodie. Which is just as well because his voting has been really erratic. Racer Positives - Voted Darth Vilus two ahead of Lathum with quarter of an hour left. Very positive unless Lathum is a (more important) wolf. - Transfered the hammer to Chubby when it would have been the easiest thing in the world to hold onto it. - Unvoted Eagle and voted Danny on day one to tie them up. Voted Danny day two as well. Negatives - None really. McKerney Positives - I doubt three wolves would put their votes on Chubby on day two -Kept DV in it on day two by narrowing the vote to 5-3 (Lathum over DV) early in the day. Could have voted Barkeep to make it 5-3 over Barkeep, requiring a major effort to get Darth started as a viable candidate. Negatives - Very quiet. I've seen mckerney much more engaged than this. Dunno what his personal situation is but this feels like he isn't trying. -Had a throw away vote on day one. Narcizo Positives - Cast a vote very early in the day on day three against Darth Vilus. Negatives – Fake Hammer farrago. - Didn't vote Danny, even though he claimed to think he was a wolf. - Early votes means that he gets away with throwaways easier. Zinto Positives - Reduced Chubby’s lead over Danny on day two to 5-4. - Pushed Danny two votes over Eagle on day one. Depends on whether Danny was saved by duking or vote manipulation, how positive that is. -Extended DV’s lead over Lathum at 9:52 on day three to 9-7 (basically the clinching vote). Questionable if this is very positive. Would he tie things up as a wolf and risk getting heat later? Negatives - Throw away vote day one. -Very quiet. Like mckerney I know Zinto can be vocal when engaged. Hoops Positives -Admitted receiving mistletoe on day two. - good vote on Darth day three. Pushed him two votes into the lead. Negatives- Eaglefan voter on day one. If we're presuming that there wasn't a duke ability but rather a vote manipulation effect then EagleFan had to be kept at least close to Danny to save him. Fake Hammer business. MrBug708 – Positives - Has touched mistletoe twice and admitted it both times when he didn't have to. Negatives - Throw away vote on day one -Voted after the matter was decided on day two -Voted Lathum day three, Made Lathum a bit of a runaway. Obviously not bad if Lathum is a wolf. -Being usual cryptic, unhelpful self. Telle Positives - As previously mentioned, Telle unvoted Autumn on day one and moved to Danny at 4:53 pm giving him two votes total (effectively keeping him in the race as EagleFan and Danny had three votes at the time). Also with one vote at the time were Thomkal, Zinto, ntndeacon, Lathum, and myself. That’s a lot of choices to give a second vote two and she chose a wolf. Negatives - As someone else pointed out, the whole thing with Danny on day one seems like it may have been contrived. Danny seemed like he was scolding her placing a single vote on Autumn which didn’t seem very serious. -Throw away vote on ntndeacon on day two. -Missed on DV on day three (voted for Lathum instead). -Fake Hammer Business. Mauboy Positives - Tied Danny up with Chubby 5-5 on day two Negatives - On more then one occasion has been late to the action and seems to be waffling more than usual. - Voted Barkeep to within one of Darth of day three. Barkeep Positives – Put Danny up 7 votes to 6 over Chubby on day 2 at 6:58 pm. -Put a 2nd vote on Darth Vilus on day three to reduce Lathum’s lead over him to 4 to 2. Ntndeacon also had 2 votes at the time. Maybe thought Lathum was going to be a runaway, and he could get a bonus here. Negatives – One of six people who voted for EagleFan day one, see Hoops. Lathum Negatives - Late to the action day two - seems to have gone missing of late. Positives - revealed (sort of) that he had fetters - Could have kept his vote on Barkeep on day three. Might not want to risk it if it was wolf-wolf-villager though. Jeheinz Positives – Gave Danny a 3rd vote on day one. At the time, Chubby and EagleFan each had 3 votes. - Danny picked him as a candidate day two. Was Danny presuming he would be called out earlier rather than sooner so he picked a wolf there? Negatives – Has similar throwaway problem to me. Difficult to get a true read on his voting intentions based on early voting. - voted ntn on day three. Seemed to be umming and ahhing about switching to Darth but never did. - I don't remember Heinz being such a follower but he definitely seems to be going that route this game. I remember him doing the same thing in Chess though - he followed my vote all the time. ntndeacon Positives - Switched off Lathum onto DV to avoid a “tie” on day three. Actually created a tie. Could have switched to Barkeep to make things 6-4-4. - Cast first vote on Danny day one. Questionable how positive you want to view that. Although you've got to think it's likely that Danny wouldn't have got any votes if he hadn't done it. But maybe he was relying on Danny not getting any votes after it. Negatives - Throw away vote day one and day two -Voted for Lathum initially over DV. Extended Lathum’s lead to 4-2 over DV. -Very quiet since day one. Only a negative in meta-terms as this is his usual MO recently. Last edited by Narcizo : 08-16-2011 at 04:30 AM. Reason: Formatting problems with bold. Added a positive comment to ntn |

Oh and another positive with mau is his reveal I guess. Although it could well be a role that the wolves know isn't in the game. I'm going to read back over that because I admit I missed it as well.

Anyway, halfway through compiling that list it occured to me that the day three voting records might not be so useful or might actually be unhelpful if Barkeep or Lathum are wolves. Assuming two wolves in the mix then you're not going to see all the wolves pile onto the third candidate because that would look suspect.

First, it is cahoots If you are going to construct the sentence around it at least spell it correctly. Yeesh, you could even edit this game ... 2nd - I haven't labored too much on the hammer issue because I don't know how to get information we don't have about it. For all we know, it could have been created at the end of Day 2 when there was no kill that night. That is something I've pondered, but largely dismissed, but haven't seen mentioned in the thread yet. I just feel like there are more ways for us to screw ourselves up on this unless some wolf really feels like volunteering the information for us. So, short of us somehow baiting the wolves into giving away info, I don't see the discussion as a particularly high value one for us. 3rd - I didn't at all think that they both had to be wolves. I think I mentioned at one point earlier this very game that I try hard not to get into "unified theories of wolves" ... it is hard enough catching one wolf, let alone getting into a point where there must be wolves acting in concert together. I try to evaluate each wolf decision independently, and move onto the next one once I've found the first one. In this specific case, I was looking more at the overall bodies of work from the players than isolating on the actions at the end of Day 4. When looking at the Day 4 stuff, it made me waver a little bit on both of them as wolves. I even posted with my vote that I found it a little tougher putting down the vote than I had initially expected. That is both a by-product of having that Day 4 info, and the fact that I had time yesterday to play/analyze more than I have most of the game. Which invariably led to me making a poor decision. Sigh. |

Yes, I've started to re-evaluate this as well. I had BK as pretty trusted and Lathum in the middle but I recall wolf Lathum putting forth minimal effort last game and at the moment he is sitting pretty low on my list. The whole thing with the spear on Day 2 with Lathum/Chubby is what has me hesitating here. If he did have an item that seemed likely to harm wolves, I would expect him as a wolf to keep it locked up with other wolves rather than passing it to a villager. But has anyone actually seen that spear? If not, there are a couple of different explanations - only one would be pro-Lathum. |

Yes. I thought Telle's passing of the sword made it less likely than average that she would be a wolf, while I didn't think Autumn's voting posture was nearly as brave or courageous as some. |

Gah! Can't you all get your items sorted out. Lathum/Chubby had the fetters. Telle had the Hammer (apart from yesterday when she had the Sword).

Would be quite useful to know if ntn was good or bad. If he's good then I think it looks bad for the people who voted him as the vote reduced the amount of information we could get from lynching Telle or, to a lesser extent, Autumn. If he's bad then, obviously, it's good for them. There was a really quick run on NTN which would make you very suspicious if NTN had been lynched and turned out villager. We'd almost certainly be voting Autumn today, presumably what the wolves would want.

I just worry when NTN is trotted out as a candidate because he seems like an "easy target" since you can always make the claim that he is quiet. That stuff works fine for sorting stuff out in the first day or two, but it is a lousy reason to introduce someone on Day 5 in my mind.
I have to believe that if we had a seer we would have heard something by now, so I'm not expecting to get info on good/bad outside of lynches the rest of the way. And if we're going to go hunting for people at this point, I would think there are better candidates out there than NTN. Lathum and Heinz are both playing very low-key villagers, and they are people who frequently provide a lot of value as villagers. I'm more concerned with them than I am with NTN, even at the risk of ignoring yesterday's vote. |

For what it's worth, I'm a lot less inclined to think he's a wolf after his no-show for yesterdays' vote

I am being low key hoops, but I swear it's just a lack of information to provide than anything nefarious. It seems like every day I have to make my final call at 2:30 Pacific, then most days everything completely changes by 7 and I'm left looking like an outlier. Which since I have no information, is even worse since I don't have a lot of "see I lynched so-and-so" to point people to.
Heck I think the only people I voted for who are no longer with us are Danny (yay!) and Thomkal (whoopsies). |

Vote Telle
Sticking with my vote from yesterday. BK would be my other choice to see if we had 2 wolves on the block when it was me-bk-dv. I know I'm obviously not a wolf so that would answer some questions for me. |

Right, but if you are a vanilla villager like you claim then the best thing you can do is actively participate in the threads. Narcizo has to bail early, just like you do, but he has been driving a lot of discussion. Obviously, there are multiple ways to look at his discussion but as a rule I'm much more inclined to give extra latitude to someone who is playing the game aggressively than someone who is passively letting the game wash over them. Right now, it feels like you are being much more passive and that doesn't correlate to what I'm used to seeing with you by the 2nd week of a game.

I would agree, 18 months ago or whatever I would be more aggressive by now. But I feel like I have no read on anyone. I see BK do something totally villager-BK-ish (to me) and I'm told that's out of step. I see Lathum be Lathum, and I'm told this is new/different. I'm told lynching people on Day one who make good wolves (and good villagers) is a bad idea (lo and behold, that person was a wolf). Next thing I know, they're gonna tell me you're not a good wolf hoopsie. So I"m being more cautious than usual, yes. Probably with good reason, two people I had big-time radar being pinged on early in the game, are looking villager (Racer for sure and NTN I'm off of due to the non-vote) |

As someone who has taken huge amounts of time off from WW, Heinz's explanation rings true for me regarding difficulties being an active participant. It wasn't until the Danny reveal day, ironically when I started putting off wolf vibes, that I got back into the swing of things, despite being an active participant in a game not that long ago.

I was the one who placed the first vote on ntndeacon, but for me I voted him more then just because he was quiet. I didn't particularly like his voting record either. Looking back now though, I think I'd want another look at his day three movement. He initially extended Lathum's leader over DV to 4-2 that day but later switched to DV to make it 5 votes DV, 5 votes Barkeep, and 4 votes Lathum.

My advice is don't let other people tell you how players act I'm completely serious about the advice, despite the smiley. You've gotten a bank of experience playing with those guys and should leverage it. We're all trying to adapt over time, but most of us don't adopt a whole new playing style very easily.

If that is the case it is pretty hard to see NTN being a wolf with Lathum. We already know DV was a wolf, so Barkeep would seem to be the better wolf vote in that later spot. And I'm guessing there would have been other wolf options besides Lathum for the earlier option if all 3 were wolves together. Doesn't really help with figuring out NTN or Lathum independently, but I think it is valuable if we later learn one of them was a wolf (ie - potential move up villager trust list). |

My wolfdar is faulty. Yesterday I was getting wolfy vibes off everything I read. Reading through today and I think that everyone is villagers. The only beeping I'm getting is from Hoops but it's more "imagine if he is a wolf" beeping rather than Batman game "He'd never do that if he's a villager" beeping. I'm having some issues here that makes it hard for me to concentrate so I'm going to hold off voting for a bit to see if I can clear my head.

This. On top of that, just because it's what YOU would do in that situation as a villager, doesn't mean another person would do the same thing. It drives me crazy sometimes. |

Ok, well here's a question for everyone. Whose lynch do you think we'd learn the most out of, regardless of result?

I know that this is only going to encourage suggestions that I might be a wolf, but I'm concerned that our trust lists all have EF as uncontested. He has been playing a pretty passive game, by his standards, since that no-kill at the end of Day 2. He's on my list of people who just don't seem to be carrying themselves like interested villagers right now, even though he was revealed as Balder at the end of Day 1.
I'm not remotely suggesting that we vote him the lynch for today, but at some point when we start seeing our trust lists shrink and he stays alive you have to wonder why he is still there. Pretty much starting tonight. EF, if you are a villager then you should be thanking me for creating a case for the wolves to leave you alive rather than whacking you 11 hours from now. |

We learn that we've wasted a bunch of time if we lynch Telle and find her a villager. We learn a bunch if she is a wolf, just as we would with getting any wolf. But maybe moreso because she would have been in multiple close races against villagers. |

I would have hoped that Balder would have come out by now if EF was lying about it.
