Saw it on my trip here about an hour ago (on each page view), nothing now though.

edit: Take that second part back. How do I block it on Firefox?

I entered "user" and "password" and it took me to some secret mod forum. You should see how many candid Pumpy photos there are over there

Glad I wasn't the only one getting that popup.

Popped up when I came to the forum just now. Saw the thread and wondered what gstelmack was up to NOW.

Popped up again when I clicked the thread. Canceled out both times, haven't seen it since.

Figured out what it is, just not sure why now all of a sudden it is showing up with that stupid authentication box. Never saw it before today.

After showing you who's tracking you, Ghostery™ also gives you a chance to learn more about each company it identifies. Sitemeter is just a site that provides traffic data on your site, like a poor man's Google Analytics.

In the "Day at the office" theme I see the sitemeter icon at the bottom of the screen (like on any site it's been set up for) but don't get the popup window you guys are mentioning.

Thanks. I looked it up and found Ghostery instead but figured that's what you meant.

Ghostery sounds interesting, but the "free" part always sounds fishy to me. What do they get out of it?

We've had the Sitemeter widget on FOFC for roughly 4 years. Operation Sports had me put it on the site back before they acquired it in summer 2008, to gauge traffic. I haven't touched it since then, so I have no idea why it would suddenly cause pop-ups for some people. *shurg*

Weird...I just got the sitemeter popup for the first couple times on my work computer (use IE here, don't have any popup blockers or ad-aware or anything).

I did notice it popping up other sites, too.

I'd bet something broke on an update they rolled out.

Me too. I suppose if you have pop-ups completely eliminated, you won't get it, but that's some AdBlock-only feature. It certainly isn't shutting it down automatically outside of that.

The only thing I really run to block anything at all is adblock and I've never once seen popups or weird ads or anything of the like.

I did get them when i forgot to add adblock onto the new machine right away once...the things people will put up with frighten me.

I use nothing clever - just Chrome and I've never seen it, I reckon its something displayed by your ad-blockers to gain revenue

Far be it for me to dispute your conclusion reached after a study involving a sample size of 1, but I'm fairly certain it's not that.
