Who are you rooting for?

Only one side can win.

I was originally rooting for the Indians, keeping in mind how long it has been for them and thinking that there is a much stronger likelihood that the Cubs will be back in this spot very soon, and with many chances to follow (even though nothing is guaranteed, of course).

But then I remembered the Cavs just won and surely a very good portion of the tortured Indians fanbase has celebrated a championship in the last 6 months. The recent success of the Blackhawks probably has nowhere near the same effect on Cubs fans, so I'm now rooting for them.

I despised the Cubs as recently as five or six years ago. This incarnation is really hard to dislike. That said, I want their curse to continue. Go Indians!

How could anyone despise the Cubs? They've been lovable losers for longer than I've been alive.

Cubs lose their luster if they actually win the WS. Rooting for the Indians since they're in the AL Central.

This. You can't be lovable losers without being losers. Go Tribe!

Part of me wants to Cubs fans who trashed Steve Bartman to suffer. The other part wants Steve Bartman to finally see his favorite team win (and possibly feature in the parade.)

I'm rooting for Francona. And I like the narrative of the Cubs never winning.

Mostly don't care (NBA starts tonight!) but I feel the same way about how awful Bartman's treatment was. Of course the logo the Indians are using is so fucking racist I can barely look at it.

So maybe it's a push?

So were the Red Sox before 2004... and now most folks can't stand their team (Yankees 2.0) or their fanbase. So, there is that fear.

That's true. I view the Red Sox as mini Yankees.

Divisional/regional rivalry. The Dusty Baker/Lou Piniella Cubs were the ones that I despised. Milwaukee was on the upswing (relatively speaking) when Piniella's Cubs were starting to go downhill and there was some overlap (2008, especially).

It's pretty much like asking a Packer fan why he doesn't like the Bears.

This, but I still Despise them. My older brother loved the cubs. I didnt like my brother much growing up. Thus I hate the cubs.

Lungs, can you get a goat? I bet if we walked up to Wrigley with a goat, we would be treated like kings.

Go Indians.

I could steal one from a neighbor but I'm not sure I should join in cahoots with a Cardinal fan

I'm unsure. This kind of thinking is virtually unheard of among sport fans.

It's simple, "lovable losers" wa putting it politely - more like whiny, pity on me, blame-the-goat, blame-bartman, blame-anything-else kind of losers. Other teams got mad and tried to do something about it (BoSox) or tried again the next year without blame until they succeeded (Brooklyn) or don't really care because it's not that important (Padres et al). But Cubs wanted everyone to feel sorry for them - that was pathetic and tiresome after 45 years of being a baseball fan.

But I would be happy for either team to win.

Their racist mascot, for starters. Probably also that it's Cleveland?

The redface indian logo has gotta go. It's basically the native american equivalent of a sambo. That being said, I'm still rooting for the Indians. I hope they win because I like Tito and do not like Joe Maddon. Maddon is probably the worst when it comes to making games unbearably long.

so i was a reds fan as i was taught to be. hoever i had a fairly obnoxious friend who was a cubs fan and never stopped talking about it.

plus every time i heard harry carey ....yuk...so hated him.

but enough time has passed and those wounds have healed
