FOFC NHL All-Time Team Challenge (Round 4)

~~~~~
There are only a few positions left to fill so let's set a short deadline for those who need it.
Round 4 Deadline: Saturday, May 15th, 11:59 p.m.
Otherwise, it's time to set your forward lines, defence pairings, starting goaltender and write a paragraph or two explaining your selections, coach, lines, and why your team is the best. Note: The points bid on players will not be displayed for voters so set your lines as you see fit. I will add stats however along the lines of GP, G, A, Pts, PIM.
Lines & Paragraph Deadline: Friday, May 21st, 11:59 p.m.
Question:
Do you guys want me to include any stats for the voters or just lines and a paragraph?
I don't know much about Hockey (more than the average American, I'm sure...but still not much), but Team #4 looks pretty strong.
I reckon stats would be helpful. They don't tell the whole story, but tell some of it.
Stats could help, although they're so era-dependant that they don't really tell the whole story.
I think we need to be able to write more than a paragraph, frankly. I'd like to write a line or two about each player on my team, or at the very least each line combination. I realize that could be a bit more work than we want to get into. I'm not saying I want to go Chief Rum on you, I just worry that FOFC won't know who some of these guys are. (Especially Team One... who drafted them, Buccaneer?)
I agree. A few lines for each guy and then a line or two for why the line combo will work would be good, I imagine. I don't know too much about a lot of these guys. You're right about Team 1. That's old school. Very old school...
Yes but I think everyone got at least 1 player they bid on.
I know HB stole two guys I REALLY wanted!
As long as no one goes Chief on me, I don't mind a line or two about every player, line, coach, team overall, etc. That will help tell more of a story.
I'll be adding stats over the next week while everyone works on their paragraphs. Since there's going to be a little more writing, I think I'll push the deadline back until Friday.
Ok, guys. I'm using Bill Barber as a sample for displaying stats and info. Tell me what you think:
He didn't win any major awards but I would have included them as well. Too much info?
I just want to get some sort of consensus before working on every player...
I think that looks good too. Could add Hall of Fame status, but that wouldn't be fair to players still playing or not eligible yet.
Actually, I was thinking about including Hall of Fame status instead of 1st and 2nd team All-Stars.
The All-Star teams only started in 1930 and I only have an accurate list up to 97-98.
well, when I was breaking down my team stats (yes, I am lame), I prorated everything to a /82 games stat. I think it makes it easier to compare quickly that way.
OK, so here's the real question... Once we post our summaries, will the other players have a chance to shoot them down? Can I claim that Tim Kerr was the greatest winger of all time without getting called for it?
I would think you could try and justify anything you want in your summary. It's up to the voters to decide if it's reasonable.
Anyway, I've finished the stats for Team 4 and will post it shortly...
Thanks.
I forgot to put that Scotty is in the Hall of Fame but that's been fixed...
I'm ignoring the Calder, Masterton and Jennings trophies...
Teams 2, 3 and 4 are complete with stats and awards...
Still waiting on Team 1 for one more defenceman...
Thanks wheels. I think it's good to have a quick synopsis of a guy's career all in one place.
All teams are now filled! Once paragraphs and line combinations are in, we can turn it over to membership.
