I've not likely seen enough of these QBs in action compared to many here, but if your comparing this draft to the one in '83 the expectations should be for the Blackledge/Eason/O'Brien types, not Elway/Marino/Kelly.

Hopefully the first two picks go QB so the Colts can get whoever they want (or trade).

Consistently improved year over year too, even this year he was better than last season, which was (at the time) the best season a QB has ever had in college. He has been a 4 year starter, He completes about 70% of his passes, and he averages about 10 yards per attempt for his career. There is nothing that indicates he could be a bust to me. His attitude being a problem strikes me as an outside observation based on Manziel's flame out, and seems very short sighted when both players body of work and pedigree is considered.

I'd be stoked if he was drafted to my team.
While I did see a picture of him drinking a beer at a basketball game after Oklahoma lost, he also doesn't appear to be an alcoholic coke fiend, so that's an advantage over Manziel. (I also don't think any of the Oklahoma WR's compare to Mike Evans... a sizable part of Manziel's success in those Alabama games were Evans and others just winning jump balls Manziel would lob into coverage.)

Bears name the Chiefs OC Matt Nagy as their new head coach.

Spotted on Twitter yesterday, anyone want to guess who has the largest direct head coaching tree in the NFL now, with about 25% of the league under (and including) him?

Does 25% of the league not know how to manage a game clock?

Fun question.

I'll guess Marvin Lewis simply through being around so long and running a good organization.

And BTW I phrased it as "direct" because Reid comes from Holmgren, who comes from Walsh.

I do find it a little amusing McDermott is considered part of Reid's tree since firing him & replacing him with an offensive line coach was a big part of why Reid was pushed out in Philadelphia.

There's been some speculation that the Colts secretly interviewed a college head coach for their own HC vacancy.

Loved him as Captain Comeback. Not sure I want him as the coach.

Don't get me wrong: I like his talent. It's just his demeanor and energy that makes me want to punch him.

Not sure if serious or sarcasm.
Mayfield has had numerous alcohol "incidents" and Mayfield has a quite popular cocaine habit.

Everyone just wants to forget the circumstances around him leaving Lubbock but dig in it aint pretty.

He has a nice compact release, but he's 5'11 and has short arms for his height. It will be a problem.

I love the walk on story, hope he proves me wrong, but I see more Jemarcus Russel than I do Russel Wilson

Regardless of how badly the Browns need a QB, I feel like their best move is probably to cut a deal with Denver. Browns would have the 4th and 5th picks. Denver can take Rosen. Browns get maybe the Broncos first this year, a 3rd this year and 2 more #1s and another second. Something like that.

Got any links? I'm having a hard time believing this because there is nothing readily available except quotes about how Mayfield is Manziel without the coke habit.

This wasn't to throw the NY media under the bus, they just used headlines to get clicks and seemed smart enough to know neither was actually real, but to say that anonymous speculation about secret interviews isn't worth buying into.

Oh so it wasn't actually anything close to what you said. Got it. Unless Bruce Arians became a member of the NY media, of course. You also just happened to find a NY-related paper to link and not every other media outlet which reported Arians' comments.

Apologies for saying New York media instead of just media? Idk, my point was that I think "Harbaugh secretly interviewing for the Colts" rumors have the same validity.

So in Tennessee losing a playoff game gets you fired. In Cleveland you get retained after going 1-31. Makes sense.

Sounds like they told him he was their guy and offered him an extension before the game, then fired him the next morning with speculation being that they think McDaniels will take the job? Idk, but that's definitely a better spot for McDaniels (or any hot name) to go - better GM, better talent around the QB, much much much better owner.

Looks like Pat Shurmur to the Giants is also all but a done deal and just waiting on the Vikings playoff run to end.

Well its never to early for a mock draft, is it? I think whomever the Cards end up with as head coach will be pretty telling as to who they go for in the first round-If they get Shurmur or Philly's Offensive Coordinator, I think they are trading up from 15 to get one of the QB's. If they go with a defensive coach, I think they will go with whomever they can get in free agency now that Carson Palmer has retired (thank the football Gods!) at QB, and go defense in the first round.

I am a big fan of Greg Cosell and am looking forward to his breakdowns on these quarterbacks. Cosell generally values accuracy and in fact has described it as the "most overlooked characteristic when discussing quarterbacks." It will be interesting to see what Coselll has to say about Allen but I can't imagine that it is favourable.

The Vrabel hire is a strong one. Everyone expects them to bring in a young offensive coordinator to help Mariota get to the next level. The Titans GM came from the Patriots organization and had first hand experience with Vrabel so that may b worth something. I guess time will tell.

Was wondering if you almost said "Bring in an inebriated young offensive coordinator" and I was like "Sarkisian?" but then realized how off the rails auto correct can go and somehow it turned bring into inebriated.
