When he's on, he can compete with the better defenses. There's also the argument that most of his career has been with quarterback-killer Rex Ryan (the same argument means Geno Smith is still employed). Sanchez is, at this point, probably an OK NFL backup.

Tebow, on the other hand, simply isn't accurate enough to be on an NFL roster. He makes terrible decisions. And he brings bajillions of fans who lose all objectivity when he's concerned, so you're always under pressure to start him.

Well said. When he is on, Sanchez can have a 300 yard passing game. Tebow is never going to have a 300 yard passing game. Tebow missed a WIDE open guy in the end zone last night and instead tried to run it in (and failed.) I'd much rather have Sanchez as a backup QB.

Rugby convert Jarryd Hayne continues to do pretty darn well in the preseason for a guy who's never played American football before. 3 punt returns for 84 yards (34 longest), and picks up 34 yards on his first rush of the day out of the HB position, and has 54 yards on 8 attempts.

His rugby stiff-arm is no joke - he's taking out the first defender on a lot of his plays, especially against defensive backs.

I'm a passenger on the Hayne plane. That over the shoulder catch on that punt was amazing, then he follows it up with a 27 yard return.. Busts a 34 yarder later, then another 20 yarder.. Then breaks another 30 plus yard run. He has legit vision and solid speed, good hands, and he breaks tackles like a poor man's Marshawn Lynch. I have been arguing with some dude on Reddit about him vs. T-Rich, and this guy is sticking to his guns, but I say Hayne is more upside in his little finger than Richardson does. I'd take him on as a punt returner right now, and groom him to get some real touches next season. The guy is legitimately good in space and has solid enough vision and size/strength to make a strong case for starting in this league once he learns the nuances.

Keeper league, deadline was Saturday, let Arian Foster go due to his injury hoping to get him back mid draft... One third of my retained salary was in Jordy Nelson

I now have a collection of #2 and #3 guys with the chance of getting only one, maybe two legit starters out of the draft. Not looking good

Has that ever happened before (where one company had the naming rights to multiple teams in the same league)?

Is there actually bitching about Bradford getting hit? Srsly?

Don't want your QB hit, don't put him in the position to be hit.

I don't even LIKE the Ravens, but the whining about that play is absurd by rule.

But but but "it wasn't a read option". Or at least that's the ridiculous argument a certain head coach tried to sell with a straight face today.

The defense reacts to what they see, they aren't (in theory at least) privvy to the actual play call.

Here's Jarryd Hayne, the rugby star that Groundhog was talking about up thread. Some flashes that make you want to see more of him; it'll be interesting to see if he can do more than just return kicks.

I've been interested in Hayne's debut for a long time...except I'm a Lions fan, and he was rumored to be solidly signing with the Lions for weeks, until he suddenly ended up taking the '9ers offer. So, of course I've swung from wanting him to succeed to wanting him to suuuuuuuuuck.

In Rugby Hayne was always great in open space, but there's only so many of those opportunities that you get per game, especially with the team he played on not having a lot of great creators (outside of Hayne). The kick return game gets him the ball with a head of steam, so maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised that he would look good, even in preseason. I honestly expected him to not hit the field and be back down in Australia right now working his way back into rugby shape.

They used him as a gunner yesterday and he got first contact on the returner too. It's a shame that the 49ers have so many RBs, but at the same time I don't know what the team grades his non-running HB skills at right now - blocking, route running, etc. Might be that they just aren't at a level that would allow him to see regular season minutes there.

I dunno, but someone is a serious dumbo if the plan for this year isn't a steady diet of "hand off to Hill, hand off to Hill, toss it up for AJ"

The 49ers have always valued pass blocking in their halfbacks - the team is definitely going to feel not having Frank Gore back there this season. He's long been one of the best (if not THE best) in the business at staying in to block.

They've got a ton of weapons if Dalton can use them. Marvin Jones was an emerging star before he got hurt last year and Eifert has been really impressive in last year's camp and again this year.

According to Detroit Lions safety, Glover Quin, Jordy Nelson tore his ACL because God meant for it to happen.
