Need some postive vibes - It's all good!
Long story short, developed a cold a week or so before thanksgiving, with a cough that continued to persist. I went to the doc the first week of December, round of antibiotics, was feeling better by Christmas, but in doing BJJ my cardio was crap and cough came back and got worse, and I just generally got winded quicker, even though I felt good.
Went back to the doctor a little over a week ago, they did valley fever test and a chest X-ray. Valley fever was negative, but X-ray shows a 7x4 cm lesion in my left lung, which is decent size. So next up is a CT scan next week to get a better look at what it is. Said it could be lingering infection or something else, then obviously mentioned the word nobody wants to hear. Staying positive, but still kind of freaking out a bit, so wouldn't mind a couple of good thoughts right now. Waiting for the test will be the biggest pain in the ass LOL. (Not to mention no running or BJJ until they find out what it is, which really sucks) Last edited by BYU 14 : 01-26-2016 at 03:25 PM. |

I believe I've been through this, a couple times. X-Ray that throws up the alarm, then CT. I'm not sure anyone actually told me what it ended up being, but it lasted years. I had a pretty nasty and painful bout of pneumonia I weathered out (stupidly) without treatment, I contribute it to that.
I'd have various weird lung issues, get it checked out, get an X-Ray and then a followup CT and the all clear. I'm at the point now if they ask for an X-Ray I'm skipping to a CT, hoping I'm past it though. Good luck BYU! |

*hugs* good luck!
I went through scary lung stuff in sept-oct-nov and know others that have too. I still don't know what it was. a cough and bronchitis that wouldn't leave. came back after 2 rounds of antibiotics and steroids and inhaler. eventually went away. I guess was virus/allergies to bad stuff/stress/not sleeping one or more of those. |

Thanks guys, like I said staying positive and I still feel good overall, so that's a good thing.
It is actually encouraging to hear some similar events from a couple of you. I know there has been some bad shit this winter season, so hoping that is what it turns out to be. |

Stay positive man. I went through something like this with my mom a few years back and it turned to just be remnant scar tissue from pneumonia. I know it's scary shit but there are a lot of outcomes that aren't the worst case scenario, so keep a happy vibe and don't let your thoughts run away from you.

Went through this as well. While deep diving me for other fun stuff, they came across something that looked bad and seemed like a pile on. Had to get CT scans for 2 years for review, turned out to be a benign nodule, and they closed the books. I am hoping for the same thing for you.

Update, CT scan was inclusive and we need to follow-up on that Tuesday, but they are saying it could be an infection or residual issues from pneumonia I didn't know I had, but they are not 100% sure either way. So good news overall I suppose.
But now I need an abdominal ultrasound because the CT scan picked up lesions on my liver too, so on to that next. It's almost funny at this point, they go checking for one thing and find something else. And this all started with a cold. |

Okay, think this will be the final update here and good news all around. Met with my doctor today and he indicated he is now positive the Lung lesion is unresolved pneumonia and there was likely some scarring on the lung tissue. Got a different cycle of antibiotics and was told not to run (which I had resumed again) or do any strenuous cardio for 4 weeks until I get a recheck.
The liver lesions are hemangioma's nothing dangerous as long as they don't obstruct the bile ducts and my blood work would have been worse if that was the case. So, dial it back for a month, take this cycle of antibiotics, then back to normal. Huge relief and sincere thanks for the positive thoughts and prayers. It does pay to live a healthy lifestyle, I am now going to celebrate with a rare Cheeseburger Last edited by BYU 14 : 01-26-2016 at 03:25 PM. |

That's awesome! Another positive, it should be warming up here in Phoenix over the next few weeks so that could help as well. Great update!

Great to hear, I know nobody really knows anyone on here personally but you never like to hear anyone going through health issues. This is going to sound so cliche but take that energy you had the last couple of weeks and go with it. I had a health scare a few months ago and told myself "If I just could be ok I would do this and this and this" and then when I got the good news was back to playing on my phone while watching my kids on the playground. I know it's human nature but I really wish I could just channel the savor every moment and live every day like that. |
