Practices starting. Here's the video from the NCAA about the points of emphasis this year.

The top uncommitted recruit for next season is choosing between Duke and... Harvard.

and we have the first upset of the season as Wagner beats Uconn, at Gampel no less.

Coastal Carolina opened play yesterday as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. They traveled to Alabama to take on the Crimson Tide. They have a pretty good record against SEC teams, especially lately. But this is a team with a lot of unknown, one senior and a lot of first time starters. They looked good in the first half, and took a 6 point lead to the second half. Then they didn't look so good and lost by 17. They need to figure out who their shooters are going to be this season if they want to have any chance for success.

Mizzou gets started tomorrow. I expect absolutely nothing this season, so I'm guessing anything will be an improvement from that point of view.

Carter will end up at Duke I think, but Harvard has a shot at another top five kid in Mo Bamba.

Harvard lost to Stanford Friday night in China. Most athletic Harvard team I've seen, but with five freshman in the rotation it is going to take some time to figure out how to play together.

They will be better than last year. They got rid of all the malcontents.

The kids last year couldnt remember a play to save their lives. This year is a smarter group. And it seems more motivated.

Iowa is young and talented. We have a stud that can score. Hopefully the rest of the guys can step it up.

The good thing is that there are some talented players on the squad. As young as they are, the hardest part is not getting down on themselves/each other after the first bump or two in the road.

I'd be willing to package Kris Wilkes and Steve Alford together if Indiana will take them off our hands

We're doing fine thanks! I mean, we would love Kris Wilkes, but anyone still unhappy with Crean is either stupid or has an agenda.

Man, Hughes and Jackson looked awfully impressive last night. When you tie Steve Stipanovich for best scoring debut in Tiger history, that's pretty impressive.

Loved that our center actually hits free throws now too. Was clear he's not going to be a 39% free throw shooter this year.

Yes they did.. can't wait to see how we play against Xavier. That will be a good test for this young group.

Hughes and Jackson will probably over do it (both are from Ohio). I think we'll lose by 15-20, but it'll be a good experience for them.

If that is how they are going to ref all year, going to be an unwatchable season. But who doesn't want to watch a whistle for every single borderline defensive play, star players off the court or fouling out and 40 free throws, amirite?

So close.......disappointing, but it's pretty clear that Mizzou is better than they were last year. Extremely tough call at the end of OT. I've seen far worse not called with less than a second left in the game.

That Finnish dude on Arizona is probably better than either.

On a different team Fultz is probably the #1 overall pick but, we'll, Romar

Fultz is one and done, and Romar isn't getting canned during the season. Probably not after the season either with Michael Porter Jr committed and another excellent class on the way.

I think you will see a lot of Ben Simmons comparisons with Fultz this year. Better scorer than Ball though, no doubt about that and Ball has the ugliest form shooting you will find

Frustrating day for Mizzou today. Big scorers just couldn't hit shots. Super frustrating after the near miss yesterday.

On a local side note, a local coaching legend at my alma mater (Larry Holley at William Jewell College) tied Dean Smith last night for 10th on the all-time win list. He's a fantastic guy who's coached his entire career at the school. He's quickly getting into some elite company on the all-time college win list.

Missouri played well yesterday. Their youth showed today.

Iowa is going to be good. We ned to clean up our terrible defense and FT shooting. But we can fill it up.

Tyler Cook is awesome.

Mizzou played great.. finally, a fun, hard working team.

Don't know why to foul on that throw in though, but yes.. youth mistake. We were killed on the boards though and if we can clean that up, we will make a HUGE stride this season.

I heard through a University source that Alonzo Trier won his appeal on an NCAA eligibility issue. If that's true, Arizona is back in the conversation for the final 4.

Back to back close losses for Tennessee against ranked teams in Hawaii.

Do those inspire confidence against lesser teams, or frustration about not being able to finish? Time will tell.

Iowa gets Virginia tonight. Here's hoping for a day of beating Nebraska in football and VA in BB.

Football on at 2:30, basketball at 6. If you are an Iowa fan, this looks to be a really fun day.

Rebuilding year for UMass, but a couple of the incoming freshmen looked great... and A10 Rookie of the Week Dejon Jarreau promptly suffered a stress fracture in his foot and he'll be out at least until A10 play, possibly all season if it lingers and it makes more sense to give him an injury redshirt.
