These do start to get a little tough. Also, I think we've reached the point where I can express my fairly strong distaste for the Rolling Stones and start voting against them every round.

I guess I shouldn't say these are tough, but more of a "oh well ok its time for fleetwood mac to go, that's too bad"

Couldn't decide who I dislike more out of Aerosmith or Van Halen, but the other picks were easy. I don't really actively dislike the Rolling Stones, but I'd listen to Disraeli Gears over anything the Stones have put out any day of the week.

Conversely, I think the period when the Stones put out Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Beggar's Banquet and Exile In Main Street is pretty much peak rock 'n roll.

I still can't fathom that people actually enjoy listening to Dylan.

I guess. Just too folk-y for my tastes. (Really, I'd classify it more as that than rock.)

Yeah, it just doesn't work on me.

Of course, I'm the guy who wonders "hey, where were Little Richard and Wilson Pickett seeded in this??"

Yeah, there are no easy outs anymore unless you have a personal dislike for a certain band.

Agreed, one of my favorite songs. But also pretty much his only song I actually like.

Queen was an amazing band, but I really dislike bombast and pomp. Will one of you Queen fans point me in the direction of something of theirs that is understated and subtle and beautiful that I have overlooked?

I guess it depends on what your judging criteria are? I've been voting not on who I think is more influential or groundbreaking, but just who I'd rather listen to. I like Jimi, but I just like more Chuck Berry songs and could listen to him more ("if you were on a desert island and could only listen to music from one of these artists..."). Dylan, I never listen to. Cream is great, but I never think "wow, I want to listen to some Cream." And Clapton solo is great! But give me a set of greatest hits and I'm choosing Metallica first.

Aerosmith vs Van Halen - legit hard. Beatles vs Springsteen, not so much. *shurg*

Freddie Mercury is probably my favourite singer of all time, but I don't like most of Queen's output for that same reason.

You Take My Breathe Away & Who Wants to Live Forever are two of my faves.

Guess I'm in the vast minority on Fleetwood Mac, but their Rumors album is one of the best of all time.

Dylan-Doors was my toughest vote this round.

I love me some Fleetwood Mac, but they are maybe the best example of a band who's output has been partially spoiled by appearing in so many shitty commercials.

I like most of FM's stuff. I can't say that about Queen. Not that I dislike Queen. But once you hear Boheimian Rhapsody for the millionth time it kinda loses its appeal. Nothing else came close to that except for Another one Bites the Dust...John Deacon was I think the best writer in that band.

That song still is great but FM's catalog is so deep and good it isn't even close for me.

And Buckingham is I think one of the best alltime guitarists in rock.

yeah I think I'm with you guys in the Doors/Dylan battle

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I can't stand listening to Dylan albeit his lyrics are some of the best. But as a "band" I don't care for him that much except his early stuff when you could understand him. Doors had some great other stuff like Touch Me. I think I like their overall sound, especially things like LA Woman and Break On thru.

Morrison and Mick Jagger kinda shared that "Scream/talk" thing.

I understand why Hendrix is winning the match up, but what kind of absurd ranking system puts Chuck Berry at 40th on a list of rock acts?
