Running Game adjustments Via the Editor (Results)

What I did was go into the editor and reduce all defensive linemen speed, agility and strength down to 1. I upped all offensive linemen, same attributes, to between 90 and 99. I left the linebackers alone. Note that this was done for NFL teams that I created, all 32. Being retired has its benefits!

Played a game of two pretty evenly matched teams Chiefs (me) vs the Browns. I had previously made both of these teams an overall of around 50. Below are the results of that game. Keep in mind that as KC I was run heavy as I wanted to test the changes I made but I still passed on 3rd downs as I was also trying to win the game.

Medium difficulty and 5 minute quarters. Average form.

Final score: Cleveland 24 Kansas City 21 (I lost in the final two minutes)

Total yards:

Cleveland 259 KC 267
Passing 211 112
Rushing 48 155

1st downs: Cleveland 8 KC 13

Turnovers: Cleveland 1 (int) KC 0

No sacks by either team (not surprising due to the adjustments I made).

3rd down conversions: Cleveland 3-12 (25%) KC 4-13 (31%)

Passing:

Cassel: 6-15 112 yards
Delhomne: 15-31 202 yards

Rushing:

Charles: 42-153 (3.6 average) Long run of 23 yards (also had a couple of around 20)
Cox: 1-2 (2.0 average)

Harrison: 14-40 (2.9 average) Long of 13
Vickers: 2-8 (4.0 average).

An interesting tidbit is that a Cleveland linebacker had 16 tackles (not all solo) and no Cleveland defensive lineman had more than 5. KC defensive linemen had no more than 3 tackles each. This tells me that I was able to get past the defensive line on a lot of plays.

I was blown up in the backfield probably 2-3 times but keep in mind that this is not totally out of the ordinary. 5-6 times it would be out of the ordinary.

Anyway, take it for what it's worth. This was only one game but seems to be promising for those that have a 360 and the editor.

Wow now this is interesting so it does look possible to adjust the game with the editor to fix the running game.

My only issue with doing all this is this. What if NM releases another patch, then you have to go back in and edit all the teams again? Sliders would make this so much easier.

Your right Phobia, if another patch is released it's back to the drawing board!
I was a bit surprised at the results since I had previously attempted to cut down the interceptions by lowering DBs agility and focus down to 1 and that did not help. Wasn't sure just how much the player ratings really affected their game play.

Todd over on the BB boards are looking pretty hard into whats causing the run blocking issue. So I would be pretty confident that it will be fixed by a patch.

I am hoping so but the last I had read over there was that he (Todd) was having a difficult time replicating what others (everyone?) has been experiencing with the running game. I find that to be pretty amazing.

He seems to be getting closer to figuring it out. I think the bold shows we "should" get a patch

As for a patch to patch the patch, I cannot answer that as we do not know yet - Im sure a decision will be made at some point soo... er, in the nearish future. In the meantime I am working on fixing the issues anyway.

Hope that helps

Played a second game, again with two closely rated teams.

Chiefs (me) 23 Bills 20

Total yards: Chiefs 341 Bills 308

Passing:

Cassel: 12-17 for 209 yards
Fitzpatrick 11-21 189 yards

Rushing:

KC:
Charles: 37-142 (3.8 average) long of 30 yards.

Buff:

Jackson: 12-104 for a 8.7 average. (He busted the first play from scrimmage for his long of 72 yards)
McIntyre: 3-15 (5.0 average)

Sacks:
Buff. 1
KC. 0

One INT for each team and that was it as far as turnovers.

TOP:

KC: 13:10
Buff: 6:50

All the same settings as the first post.

Thanks for that post Phobia, I had not been over to the backbreaker site today. Hopefully they can get a patch going so all can enjoy this game more.
