    Glory Days Boxing

This is a cards and dice tabletop sim (think Strat-O-Matic). I haven't played it but I have watched several fights on Youtube and it looks like alot of fun.

The full game bundle ($65) comes with 400 boxers (100 each from heavyweight, lightweight, middleweight and welterweight) and the creator is currently working on another set of 100 heavyweights.

Anyway, I just ordered the full bundle and should have it by the end of the week.

The creator of the game has a Youtube channel and you can find several matches using this game on other channels.

    Just thought I'd share!

Anthony Crooks excellent boxing game that brings the excitement of the ring to your tabletop - Cost of shipping included in all print item prices below.

    Re: Glory Days Boxing

Just got a notification that my game should arrive on Friday. I can't wait! I'm really excited to get my hands on this and I've been watching people play it on YouTube constantly for the last 2 days.

After I get a chance to play I'll try to put a little feedback on here but I think watching on YouTube is probably better than any feedback I can give.

          Re: Glory Days Boxing

Over the last few days I watched alot (probably 30) of fights using this game on YouTube. I also downloaded and read the instruction manual. Because of this, I was ready to play as soon as the game arrived this afternoon.

This game is alot of fun!

I've finished 3 fights so far:

          1. Mike Tyson defeats Evander Holyfield by TKO at 1:05 of the 1st round.

Shocking end after alot of hype!

          2. Deontay Wilder defeats Anthony Joshua by KO at 1:16 of the 9th round.

What was interesting here is that Wilder had landed 20 more punches than Joshua through 8 rounds and had knocked Joshua down in the 5th round but the judges had Wilder barely ahead (76-75, 76-75 and 76-76). It would have been interesting to see the judges' final scorecards if it went the full 10 rounds.

          3. George Foreman defeats Leon Spinks by TKO at 2:53 of the 2nd round.

The first round was close (Foreman held an 11-8 advantage in punches landed) but big George pummeled poor Spinks in the second, landing 26 punches to Leon's 2.

I'm going to move on to some Middleweights now. [emoji3037]

            Re: Glory Days Boxing

My fourth fight was my first to go the distance.

Willie "The Worm" Monroe was the winner by unanimous decision (97-93, 96-94, 96-94) over Cory "The Next Generation" Spinks.

There weren't any knockdowns in the match. Monroe landed 99 punches to Spinks' 91. Spinks suffered a swollen right eye in the 4th round and Monroe suffered a bloody nose in the 9th.

Monroe caught some real breaks with the judges throughout the fight but he deserved the W.

Next up, a couple of Welterweights. "Cool" Vince Phillips (48-12-1, 34 KO) vs "Bazooka" Ike Quartey (37-4-1, 32 KO).

To no surprise, Ike Quartey stopped Vince Phillips by TKO at 0:50 of the 9th round. Ike was the better fighter, he out punched Phillips and he was ahead on the scorecard when the fight was stopped.

                I completed 7 fights tonight.

The last 2 fights had Joe Gans winning by TKO at 2:40 of round 4 over Edwin Viruet and Bob Fitzsimmons winning by KO over Henry Cooper at 2:09 of the 9th round.

                That last fight was brutal.

Cooper cut his right cheek in the 2nd and re-opened it in the 5th. He also had his left eye swell in the 3rd and was knocked down in the 4th before being knocked out in the 9th.

Fitzsimmons suffered a gash above his right eye (the worst facial injury that puts you at high risk of getting TKO'd) in the 3rd, cut his left cheek in the 8th and was knocked down in the 5th.

                I love this game!

                  coolbeans steelerfan!

                  Do you do requests?

Was wondering what a Stanley Ketchel vs Haglar fight would look like.

Also, do they have different versions of fighters depending on what weight-class they're in?
For example, Robert Duran vs Mayweather at 135 or Mayweather vs SR Leonard at 147. Or even the original Sugar vs both SRL and Mayweather at 147.

                  Thanks!

I started a project and have 3 fights I need to get done first but I could definitely do a Ketchel vs Hagler. I pulled their cards out just now and I'll get to it tonight or tomorrow. [emoji3037]

I'm not positive if there are different versions of fighters (there are 400 total and I've spent my time fighting not looking through the cards) but I know the creator of the game is currently testing a system to allow fighters to go up or down a class.

Additionally, he said he eventually wants to have a set of fighters from all 7 of the original weight classes.

If Ketchel in particular interests you, the YouTube link in the OP is the channel of the game's creator and he is doing a career replay with The Michigan Assassin and has about 5 or 6 fights with him already on the channel!

                      Re: Glory Days Boxing

I played the Ketchel/Hagler bout this morning and it was a good one. Scheduled 10 rounds.

                      Round 1
Hagler lands 16 punches to Ketchel's 8. Ketchel's right eye swells.

                      Round 2
The Michigan Assassin wins the PL count 9-6.

                      Round 3
Hagler again lands more punches, 9-8.

                      Round 4
Hagler completely dominates, landing 19 punches while Ketchel only connects once. Ketchel's nose begins to bleed.

                      Round 5
PL count goes to Hagler, 15-10. On two separate occasions, the blood flow from Ketchel's nose increases and later his right eye sees more swelling.

                      Round 6
Punches Landed: Hagler 21, Ketchel 16

                      Round 7
Ketchel rebounds and knocks Hagler down but not out. PL count is won by Ketchel, 9-3. Late in the round, Ketchel completely runs out of gas and is fatigued.

                      Round 8
Hagler works on Ketchel's swollen right eye and does more damage. He wins the PL count, 14-7.

                      Round 9
Ketchel is knocked down despite landing 6 punches to Hagler's 5.

                      Round 10
Ketchel finished strong with 15 punches landed to Hagler's 7. This one will be decided by the judges.

                      Total Punches Landed
                      Ketchel 89
                      Hagler 115

Judge number 2 scores the bout 94-94

Judge number 1 scores the bout 96-92

And judge number 3 scores the bout 96-92 for your winner by majority decision, "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler!

Great fight. Two pugilists with alot of power but neither is prone to the KO. In the end, Hagler is better at dictating the flow of the match and he controlled the fight the vast majority of the time.

I've done almost 20 fights and only 2 or 3 have gone the distance. This was my first majority decision.

I’m assuming fighters have a chin rating? I believe Haglar had only one official KD against in his career and several people have said it should have been ruled a slip.
So for SK to score a KD against Marvelous is quite a feat.
I may have to get this game. Sounds like it has a lot of depth.

They do have a chin rating and, yes, it's tough to drop Hagler.

Here is a fighter card to give you an idea of what is rated...

I just had my first draw and it was highly controversial!

George Chuvalo landed 93 punches to 69 for Anthony Joshua. There were no knockdowns, no cuts, and no fouls other than each corner receiving a warning for continuing to throw punches after the bell to end the 8th round. Chuvalo deserved the decision.

Chuvalo! I don't believe he was ever dropped in his career despite facing some of the hardest men of the 70's.
I've read that if he had power, he would have been champ at some point in his career. Man had a concrete chin.
