Re: Xbox 720

Looks like the MSFT TV project might be on hold for now.

Setbacks Arise with Microsoft TV - Microsoft's pursuit of an online subscription for TV content put on hold.

Quote:
Since E3 2011, Microsoft has made it clear they intend the Xbox 360 to become the entertainment hub of every console-owning living room. With initiatives and partners to bring on-demand TV and services to the new Dashboard, Microsoft has also been working on a larger goal: their own subscription-based TV service.

The recent suggestion of the Xbox 720 DVR features indicate this path was most likely happening, but now an article at Reuters revealed that the plan may be on hold.

The gist of Microsoft TV is that it "would have allowed users the option of paying a monthly fee for a package of programming from someone other than a local cable or satellite TV company." But because this isn't a project like Netflix, the idea of nabbing live networks makes it "a much higher cost proposition."

For now, it appears as though Microsoft will continue to pursue partnerships suchs as HBO GO, Hulu Plus, and the on-demand services of Verizon Fios and Comcast instead of their own initiative.

If Microsoft is able to pull through the cost-hurdles of creating their own service, what do you want out of it?

Re: Xbox 720

Well it could be a good thing if can be downloaded to your youtube account for people to watch later on. But over I feel that MS is turning the Gen Console into a more of media outfit then a gaming system. When is it enough that fans get tired of all the extra things they are doing to xbox. Xbox is for gaming and not nothing else. But yet MS is trying everything to make it more then a gaming system. Sad to be honest. All I care is about the gaming aspect of the next Gen system. Could careless about anything else they add to it.

Since most of the Netflix streaming is done from video game consoles it's pretty clear people don't mind. If you are not using it for more than games and feel that how they should be designed, you should realize you are in the (likely vast) minority similar to those who think single player should be a priority in every game, and multiplayer/co-op play shouldn't be emphasized as much as it has been lately.

Re: Xbox 720

Any system that does not allow or play used games will not be a purchase.
Now if both do that then I guess I'll have to rethink it.....
I'm just very used to buying used to save money etc... Not to mention trying to recoup some money be trading or selling would be a big hit to me.

I am with you on that. If one system does and one doesnt play used games I am going for the one that allows them.
