Re: Xbox 720
I am completely not ready to be honest. I have said it before but I am thinking of just moving back to PC only after this crop of consoles end. You can build a powerful PC that will play anything out there and it is technically a console now. You can hook them up to modern TVS, can use xbox controllers, offer "apps" such hulu.
Only downside I see to the PC debate is lack of sport titles.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
As mentioned already, the devs are not innocent in this. I have played more BS/unfinished games than I have good ones. I couldn't care less if they made less money from new game sales. If they want more income, push DLC sales harder.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Xbox 720 release delayed due poor processor quality – report
Xbox 720 hasn’t even been unveiled by Microsoft yet, but a fresh report suggests that the reveal itself could be delayed due to a manufacturing issue that has led to ‘painfully low’ processor quality.Tech news site SemiAccurate has stated – by way of OXM – that Xbox 720 will house AMD manufactured processors, rather than the Xbox 360′s IBM chips. The site claims that the processors were due to enter production this December, but delays have set in.
The site also claims that AMD’s Xbox 720 processor goes by the internal codename ‘Oban’, and is being developed at several locations in the East, but that the build quality is – as the site describes it – ‘painfully low’. The site’s source went so far as to say the build quality wasn’t even up to “horrid” yet.
This could mean delays in the Xbox 720 launch – which may sound daft as we don’t even know when it’s due in the first instance – but the site also claims that proper processor testing takes about eight weeks before they are shippable. A source has told the site that Microsft is currently targeting a September 2013 launch for Xbox 720.
The report also claims that date Microsoft can submit chips for testing before the end of the year is November 8, meaning it will miss the rumoured December production schedule. SemiAccurate estimates that Microsoft needs to enter full production by February 2013 to hit the rumoured September release date.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
Hope this doesn't allow for another 360 like debacle or poorly tested machines (defect), just to get them out the door.
Delay till it works. The current systems are plenty good for now.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Xbox 720
Until I see hard proof stating otherwise, I'm sticking with what I've said all along; we aren't seeing the new Xbox or PS3 release stateside until 2014.Comment

Both companies can always continue to wring money from the current consoles after the successor launches like Sony did with the ps2.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I think it depends on how well the consoles sell this holiday, and if the WiiU comes out of the gate well, but game and hardware sales are already slowing down. After Halo 4 and Forza Horizon this holiday, MS has nothing beyond a spinoff Gears game in early 2013, so waiting until 2014 is insane if it means they will lose momentum for a whole year. Sony has a ton of stuff in the pipeline for 2013, so I could see them holding until 2014. Giving Nintendo two holidays to itself is a dangerous move as well.

Re: Xbox 720
I just don't believe they honestly see Nintendo as a true competitor... they sort of just do their own thing. Even when the Wii was selling like crazy, the console war was still between MS and Sony. From my personal experience, I never met anyone under about 50 yrs old or older than 10 that owned JUST a Wii... It was always a secondary option in the home.
Sure, the WiiU could have record sales (although I doubt it sells like the Wii did), but once again it's a console using near outdated hardware and a controller gimmick... Are MS and Sony REALLY worried that if people buy a WiiU they won't be interested in an Xbox 720 or PS4? IMO, I don't think so.Comment

To add, MSFT and Sony will always be the go to systems for third party. They have years of infrastructure and support for third party developers.
And their first party, especially Sony lately has been stellar.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
