Xbox One

I didn't see a thread for the potential upcoming system from Microsoft so let's kick it off.

Apparently Microsoft filed for a patent for a video game system with a built-in DVR that allows you to record media while playing games. Looks like we can all record our games too.

Quote:
A digital video recorder (DVR) application running alongside a television client component allows users to record media content on the gaming console. The DVR application also integrates itself with the console menu. Once integrated, users can record media content while playing games. Alternatively, users can record content when the gaming console is turned off. The recorded content can include television programming, gaming experience (whether local or online), music, DVDs, and so on. When in the recording state, users can also switch between various other media modes, whether gaming, television, and so on.

Re: Xbox 720

If the new XBOX really does have DVR, then that's a great move my MB in my opinion. It's something I'd be extremely excited about and I'm sure many others would be too.

Re: Xbox 720

here is the thread -- http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ch-2013-a.html

DVR would be nice for recording games. For sports, if you could share those videos, you could share all your league games and even scout your opponents by watching the games.

Other than that though, most people already have a DVR from their cable provider. Unless Microsoft is partnering with the providers to allow the new box to access their live signal, the DVR will be a waste. The rest of the stuff Microsoft offers is videos/movies, so you don't need to record it.

Re: Xbox 720

If it's RVU compatible it could serve as a DirecTV set top box with their new whole-home DVR.

If they make this compatible as a DirecTV tuner, I would be very happy about this. Otherwise, this is not a feature I would want to pay extra money for.

It'll be awesome for someone like me though.
I'm planning on getting rid of my satellite and go to HD antennae. Now I can record off the airwaves if I need it instead of buying a separate DVR component.

Not only that, but it's much easier for me to transport the 720 to other rooms to watch recorded material.

This is awesome news!
