    PC or Next Gen Console?

Anyone considering going the PC route instead of buying a next gen console? It's just a matter of time before I pick up a PS4. I prefer Sony's exclusives and the consoles do tend to provide that "media center" experience along with gaming. However, I am not sure how soon I am willing to purchase the PS4. Seems like over the last few generations, consoles really don't hit their stride until year 2 or 3.

I have strongly debated over building a PC to run games like Watch Dogs/NBA 2k14/BF4/etc... While the cost of entry is more, the PC could be multitasked and overall I think the games are cheaper. I understand there are pros/cons to both. I do absolutely LOVE the ability to take advantage of mods (similar to the NCAA mod of NBA 2k).

Just wanted to get input from anyone in my position, or who already has a PC.

    -Thx

My advice is to do what matters the most to you, so if you really like the mod options you get on PC then get a nice rig and call it a day. if first party exclusives matter to you more go for the console you like.

I honestly think waiting is the smartest thing for someone who isn't completely sold on what these new machines will offer.

Overall it really is all about what is most important to you and what you think you will use the console or pc for.
It really varies so much from person to person.

I think my gamerscore on 360 was like 105k when I bought a gaming PC about 3 years ago. Now it's 111k. It's extremely difficult to bother with console games after PC. PC does lack fighting and sports games but is otherwise superior in every way.

Overall the games are significantly cheaper.
Most are $10 less by default,Greenman usually has 20-25% off of pre-orders or you can wait a month or two and it'll be on sale somewhere. Daily deals on Steam and Gamersgate. Plus midweek and weekend deals on Steam. Any time a new DLC comes out there's a good chance the game will be on sale too. Unless it's an Activision game. They don't seem to understand the word "sale" for some reason. Then there's stuff like humble bundle where you can pay $1 and get 5 games or pay $5 and get 7 or 8. The endless free indie games. You don't even have to pay them to get in on the sales unlike the consoles. I'd say the average for a new PC game is $35. You can find Blacklist for $30 right now. Also free online play is worth mentioning since only the Wii U has that now for consoles.

I'm sticking with my PC for now. Maybe in a year or so when there's a few exclusives I want to play for XB1/PS4 then I'll decide to pick up one of them then. Right now the games at release aren't there to justify buying one at release since the only games I want to play are also available on PC. I'll avoid any launch issues either console has also.

I totally forgot that new EA thing on PC too. EA started a great game guarantee. If you buy an EA game on Origin they'll give you a full refund within 7 days of when you first launch it OR 7 days from when you pre-ordered it. (Which means it's not a good idea to pre-order.) If you don't like BF4 within the first week (assuming you have the sense to wait for launch day to buy) they'll take it back.

Have a PC, between the media and gaming functions we can justify getting both and I'll still be enjoying many of the multiplatform titles on PC.

Really depends on your use case.

It's 24 hours after you first launch it. 7 days if you don't launch the game.

For me I'm going both. There's simply too many good games not on PC I have to play.
With that said..when my rig can't go any longer I'll be console only.

Well to be specific.. it will be at elast 2-3 more years before I can upgrade if I decide too. After the new console most my $ will be going to colleges and car insurance etc...

Re: PC or Next Gen Console?

I built a PC in 2009 bascially just to play Empire Total War and Napoleon Total War. I think the graphics card I put in there, an overclocked 5850 is more powerful than what will be in the current consoles. I have played those games for hundreds of hours so the PC was worth every penny.

I like wargames too much to be without a PC. Throw in the fact that Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition II is coming out this fall, I'll need that PC as well and some other good games on the horizon.

That said, I do like the sports games on the consoles, so they are a must as well. Although I find myself growing very tired of EA sports games and can go weeks without playing them an not really miss it.

Sticking with both. PS4 for the console exclusives and PC for multiplats. The lower pricing, higher resolutions, and being able to cut down on framerate issues with PC on games will keep me still buying multiplats on there.
