Game Notes
The #12 Missouri Tigers (5-0) are hosting the Iowa State Cyclones (1-4) in their Big XII home opener.
The Tigers managed to stop the Sooners potent offense, and held the helpless Wildcats offense to under 170 yards offense last week. The Cyclones offense is averaging over 345 yards so far this season, but their defense has given up over 40 points a game on average. Missouri Tigers should defend their turf quite readily.

Games to watch in Week 7
#7 Alabama (5-1) at #25 Ole Miss (5-0)
#13 South Carolina (5-1) at #17 Mississippi State (5-1)
#5 Oklahoma State (5-0) at #19 Texas (4-1)
#11 Ohio State (5-1) at Illinois (5-0)
Michigan (5-1) at #6 Michigan State (5-0)
Louisville (5-0) at #23 Cincinnati (5-0)

Re: When the Defense Roars: Missouri Tigers Dynasty

thanks BleedBlue and tony.
That Oklahoma game was one of the best I have played. I was honestly surprised how easy it was to stop the Sooners compared to the first three games.

My team is the same way. They play like National Champs against Stanford, USC, and Oregon. And play like a pee wee team against WSU, Arizona, and Kansas.

It is kind of ridiculous, but it does make it fun. If it continues like that I might institute a slider rule, Heisman for tough opponents, Varsity for cakewalks, and AA for regular games.

Tigers destroy Cyclones, prepare to host the Cowboys
The stage was set for the Iowa State Cyclones (1-4) to defeat their rivals the #12 Missouri Tigers with the Tigers matchup with the #5 Oklahoma State Cowboys on the horizon but the Tigers took care of business.

The Cyclone's did achieve a few goals as they did not give up a single passing TD and their RB Jeff Woody broke the NCAA longest rush mark with an 80 yard TD.

The game was all Tigers though, as DeVion Moore nailed a perfect and untouched 16 yard TD rush in the first quarter to put them up 7-0. James Franklin and Tj Moe walked the Tigers down the field in range for scores three times in the second quarter, with DeVion Moore getting two TD's on rushes of 4 and 7 yards, and G. Ressel nailed a easy 29 yard field goal with 0:01 left in the second quarter to put the Tigers up 24-0. Every time the Cyclones got some offense going the Tiger defense stepped up, with Z. Gooden getting a key interception early in the 2nd quarter and K. Edwards gaining a key pick early in the 3rd.

Jeff Woody broke the Cyclones offensive issues with a 80 yard power rush that included 3 broken tackles at the start of the 3rd to make it 24-7. DeVion Moore responded with a 27 yard TD strike and the Tigers held on with a K. Edwards interception on the Cyclones next possession to break the Cyclones will.
Missouri finished the game with a Henry Josey TD in the 4th to make it 38-7.

Missouri POTG: James Franklin 19/27, 211 yards, 0 TD
DeVion Moore 21 rushes, 117 yards, 4 TD

Iowa State POTG: Jeff Woody- 15 carries, 121 yards, 1 TD

Game Notes
The last time the Missouri Tigers hosted the Oklahoma State Cowboys was in 2008. The Tigers were 5-0 and #2 in the nation but fell to the 5-0 Cowboys by the score of 28-23. That was a rough year for the Cowboys, as they were a great team but it was the year Texas and Oklahoma and Texas Tech all went 11-1 in the Big XII south and all had legit claims for being the representative of the conference to go to the BCS.

The Tigers have not defeated the Cowboys since 2005 when they invaded Stillwater and walked away with a 38-31 victory.
With both teams controlling their own destiny and the Cowboys featuring a high octane passing attack, which is the Tigers weakness this season on defense, this game looks to be a high scoring contest.

Tigers shut down Cowboys, control Big XII

The #6 Oklahoma State Cowboys went into their game with the #12 Missouri Tigers controlling their own destiny. Their only tough game ahead after the Tigers was the Oklahoma Sooners, besides that the schedule was Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Iowa State.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, the Tigers had revenge on their minds. Or possibly it was just fate that the Cowboys chance at a national championship and outright Big XII title was taken away by the team they stole that from in 2009.

The game started with a fumble by Brandon Weeden. The Tigers offense could not capitalize so G. Ressel nailed a 39 yard field goal to put the Tigers up 3-0. The defenses would duke it out through the first half until late in the 2nd quarter K. Jackson intercepted Weeden and returned it for 22 yards, setting up the Tigers. James Franklin tossed TJ Moe a 4 yard TD pass, and the Tigers had a 10-0 lead at the half.

The third quarter was tight with no points or real offense to talk about, but in the 4th quarter the Tigers pulled away with another Ressel FG and Marcus Murphy grabbing an 8 yard catch for a TD.
