Re: Anyone from Europe ordered the game? (Traditional thread)

Good to know there's more people in Germany interested in the sport.

I grew up being a die-hard fan of baseball in my native Venezuela. I got to shake Andrés Galarraga's (back then, the BEST ball player Venezuela had in the big leagues) hand when I was about 5 and it's still one of those things I'll never forget. I remember my dad, after a couple beers during the game, waiting for around an hour or two after the game to take me and my brother to the exit of the club house of our favorite team. We actually made it inside the clubhouse more than once and that's when I met Galarraga. Heck, I might have even met Omar Vizquel but he was a rookie back then! Anyway, I even owe my first name to baseball. My dad named me after hall-of-famer Rod Carew.

Anyway, if you're into online play, check out roolz's site. There's plans for league play.

I'm probably the oldest in this thread..been playing video games since they were invented...really got into all american sports via my love for ice hockey...got into baseball years ago when I got World Series Baseball and RBI Baseball for the good old ZX Spectrum...and the love affair continued.

Used to watch the coverage on Channel 5, but when NASN (now ESPN America) was available to watch on satellite I snapped it up.

Good to hear you are sorted Max

Like many Brits id assume, I got into Baseball thanks to Channel 5 and their memorable live games on Sunday nights (then Wednesday nights as well).

From there it was a case of using the internet to learn more, starting out Baseball video gaming with MVP 04 (PC Version) then onto 05... before finding love with the Show once id got a PS3!

Never been to a live game, would love to and I think the only realistic chance is to go to New York as I dont think a trip to Cincinnati to see the Reds is as romantic for the misses.

I also started up the mlbtheshow.co.uk website for fans of the game from Europe.. its niche, but it lets us likeminded fans from the same continent talk about the game, delivery threads like this, share franchise stories and even arrange online games/leagues depending on your play type of choice.

Its fair to say my misses is not a Baseball fan and my Show'caholism is not top of her list

Older than me? I cracked 40 2 years ago. Great
As far as I remember I started with the Commodore 64 and a datasette tape. And I still remember the commands.

If you have enough time for it I would recommend MLB.TV premium to everybody. Great HD picture, and every game archived and accessable for years.

Sounds great mate. I've seen sport on Blu-Ray before but I haven't watched any HD sport on telly for years, and that was just one game of footy about 3 years ago when HD just started.

              Really excited

Fingers crossed for everyone getting their Shows tomorrow

C64 good memories... thinking back I did have a Baseball game for that, very basic and I was useless but it was there. I also had 4th and inches which was my first foray into NFL.

I bought it last year around this time, that was when I didn't have ESPN. I loved watching the games on my laptop, even put a few quid on games in the early part of the season, ended up winning about 200 quid in 6 weeks which was more than I get from my part-time job

I would also recommend that service to everyone, either that or forking out for ESPN which is also well worth it IMO despite the lack of HD picture. That is unless you pay for an HD box etc.

And at 29 i feel oh, 1 year younger than you roolz, but i do hit the big 3-0 in April.

I worked in America around 2000/1/2 and went to two live games then, Cubs v Sox at Wrigley, and Brewers v Cubs at their old County Stadium, didnt really appreciate nor enjoy it as i didnt understand the game or what i was watching, naturally, though i do remember Sammy Sosa belting a bomb just over my head and out of Wrigley.

Living over there of course its everywhere and when i then worked and lived full time in Detroit i started to get more curious, watched a lot of it and learnt all the games nuances and basically fell in love with it.

Game wise i played the old High Heat on the PC which was great for its time but then got a PS3 specifically for the Show 08 (i did have 2K7 on the 360 but sold the system soon after as i realised it couldnt touch the SCEA stuff) and the rest is history!

                    Come on my DHL darlings.

I received a purchase receipt from VGP.

This time I chose the regular credit card payment method and my order status is now "pending". On my last unsuccessful order it was "preorder processing".

So I am asking you: Is this actually a good sign?

                      Thanks!

I'm an old gamer who refuses to grow old gracefully (although my reactions are definitely getting slower). I'm 54 but looking forward to the DHL delivery van turning up like it was Christmas.

Well, it's nice to know that I'm not the oldest...welcome aboard Gerry..we all know how you feel about the DHL van!

Got to admit I'm not a button mashing player, I get my enjoyment out of the game by watching cpu v cpu...it may sound odd but it's how I 'play'..just like watching tv and letting the player ratings have an effect rather than me swinging at everything and missing!

Matt/Max - if you've got the purchase receipt then the payment has been authorised and cleared, so it should be sent Monday.

I only work just down the road from the DHL depot in Nottingham!! I'm hoping tomorrow!! I'm 33 going on 10 according to my wife! I love MLB, NHL, NFL and NBA but I have to say baseball is my favourite. A little off topic but if any of you guys are interested in learning more about the history of the game, I would highly recommend reading The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bill-James-H...7391673&sr=8-1).

Maybe I'll get it on thursday when my baseball season starts with the first spring game of my White Sox.

And I never thought that there will be so many great guys on this board from Europe.

I'll open my first beer tonight, stop working and enjoy the rest of the evening. Cheers guys!
