Re: Anyone from Europe ordered the game? (Traditional thread)

My date was reset to 1/1/2000 ... It allowed me to play NHL10 without problem.

I changed the date and time to the now, and switched it off. Turned it back on 15 mins later, and noticed while the PS3 was off the clock didn't update itself ... While its on, it works and updates fine, and seems to play games.

    It's about 16 months old and a 80GB ...

You reckon I'm in the clear for the show 10?

Looks like it's affecting games that support trophies...the clock only runs when you have it powered on....The Show 09 must support trophies, hence why it's not working when 08 & 07 do.

I think the show 10 has trophies so it looks like we're screwed until Sony fix this debacle.

The only saving grace for me so far is that I've managed to reset the system's clock and it is now working properly.

Congrats for those who have the game, will we be able to get some impressions from you soon?

          Well done VG+ AGAIN!

Sure. I've played 3 complete innings so far. I'm playing Giants @ Mets. RTP + replays, partly cloudy. Hitting difficulty legend, pitching difficulty HOF.

First off, it definitely does feel different from last year; in a good way, that is! daytime progression is awesome but what really amazed me was the cloud shadows on the filed and how they move! It can be sunny, semi-sunny or overcast all in the same inning. That already makes it incredible. However, what I think is the best bew feature is the new ball physics, oh and the pitch release. The ball pops out of the bat in a very realistic way, in my opinion at least. I've seen two hits down the line already and a HR replay review which was ruled a foul after all. One of those two hits down the lines did show a tiny little glitch, though. Bengie Molina belted one down the line in right and once it reached the wall it was declared a ground rule double. I captured the replay and will up it once I'm done here. Pitching also feels great. I've been throwing many more balls than i was throwing with MLB 09 and what i love about it is that this time if you miss the release point the pitch will most likely be out of the zone (depending how exactly you missed it). Last year I found that most of the times I missed the release point, my pitch ended up being a meatball, thus making my pitcher pay more often than I would have liked.
Those are my impressions for the moment. 4th inning about to start. The game is a pitching duell as expected. johan has allowed 1 run but has showed himself dominant on the mound, while Lincecum is just owning the zone and has allowed only one hit.

          More later.

Sorry to hear about the PS3 bug. Hopefully they'll do someting about it. i did read Sony's twitter and they said they are looking into it.

            An update from the net...

"PlayStation 3 systems across the globe have been struck with the 8001050F error.

On February 28, the calendar on original PS3 systems was reset to January 1, 2000, blocking access to online content. It has been confirmed that Slim PS3 systems have not been affected.

The console will fail to access PSN, load games with Trophies or play PS3 Originals or Premium Themes. Users have reported that Trophy data has also been wiped.

The error has been identified to strike offline systems, suggesting a firmware error related to a leap year miscalculation.

Sony has told Twitter followers: "We're aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we're looking into it. Stay tuned for updates."

It has been advised that users with older PS3 models should not use their console until further notice."

Holy crap. It left Leipzig after midnight and it's now in the delivery van.

Edit: And just read about the bug. Couldn't have happened on a better day, aye?

It doesn't happen to all the "fat" consoles, i have an European 80Gb model and my date is correct.

So it seems it only affects the old 60Gb models and some old 40/80 Gb ones.

I think I've read that one of the 'fat' models is ok, but there are about 6 or so other 'fat' model numbers that are affected....

If your date doesn't change when you power it on, then chances are that your PS3 will be ok...if not, then join our exclusive club...

But to confirm it is hardware/operating system related - as I wasn't connected to the PSN when I powered on.

What if we reformatted the ps3, and then not change time manually to a long time before 28th Feb 2010?

Or is it too late, because the error is already embedded?
