Name audio is wrong for custom players

I made a few custom players based on myself and my friends to use in my franchise. At least 2 of them don't abide by the playcall name that I selected in player edit though.

I first used a playcall name similar to my own last name, but when I noticed the commentators using the wrong name, I just changed my player's last name and the playcall name to a different name that is a pseudonym of mine (Kramer). But instead of calling my player Kramer the commentators still call him Francis. Not sure what's causing this bug or how to fix it.

Unfortunately I've simmed 3 years into this franchise and the roster work took some time and I made some decent trades so if it involves remaking the guy I probably won't do it. Just didn't occur to me that this would be an issue as it's never been an issue for me in MLBTS 23 or 24.

The guys I used aren't created players, I edited these players into who I wanted them to be. So maybe that's the issue. But I did that in past games as well and it was never an issue.

Only created players have the correct audio. If you overwrite a player they're going to keep the original audio. It does suck.

Damn. Hopefully they patch it. I'll just live with the annoyance for now. Not worth starting over after the time I've already put into it.

I don’t think they are going to patch it because it’s not a bug. The audio is recorded and tied to each player, even the CAP face ones, because they have full minors now.

The way to get around it is to create a few players from scratch and then move them to the team you want them to play on.

Its unfortunate that you can't import a created player into your franchise

I’m pretty sure you can. You just have to move them to a team and save the roster before you start a franchise.

It used to be that we created historic rosters by editing minor league players without Face Scans. So now it sounds like that no longer works if changing the voice file for the last name has no effect.

I do not believe that creating all the players from scratch will work as one cannot create 30 or more players that way and transfer them to a roster.

If this is all true, then this means the death of historic rosters.

Re: Name audio is wrong for custom players

So years ago when I helped Knight with Detroit in creating the full minors roster we created the correct players by editing existing fictional players. I had proceeded to do the same by editing minor league players without Face Scans to create a historic roster, but had not used or tested the players yet as I was waiting for my historic stadium that I created in MLB 24 to be available. (Waiting for the Stadium vault to be fixed) However after the above message I thought I needed to test it.

Turns out he is right. Of the first three players whose name files are in the database and selected when I edited the players, two were just referred to by their numbers and the third by the wrong last name. In my view this means that SDS has finally made it impossible to create historic rosters. First it was the elimination of carry over saves and now the inability to edit the last name voice file. Your only option in MLB 25 the Show is to play with the current year's rosters.

I just checked MLB 24 the Show to see if it also had this issue. It did not. I was able to edit the voice file name for a real minor league player and the announcer used the name I changed it to.

Actually that is what I'm in the process of doing. I created a template with one created player for all teams and am now editing over it. I've been testing to insure the new audio is correct as well.

That isn't correct. You can create a player and import it into your roster and edit over him and the audio works. Im doing that currently for a 1998 set.

Let me know if you are successful in using this "create player" to create alot of different players to add to a single "roster" . I had thought one could only create a single player using this.

Yes you can. I have 20 teams. With 26 man rosters already completed which i have tested at several different points to make sure its working. Editing over a created player works. Editing over an SDS created player does not.

You only have to create one template player and import him over all the other players and then edit him to whatever player you want. I created a template of 93 man rosters with a created player in less than an hour and using it as my base set. Its in the vault under my user name BHoward1.
