Normal swing was just a normal swing & contact was a faster swingCan't believe I been a member here this longComment

Re: Is Power Swing Worthwhile?
I almost never use the power swing. I have more success using the directional hitting to try and pull the ball when I'm ahead in the count. I pretty much only use the power swing when I'm in a 3-0 count.Comment

Re: Is Power Swing Worthwhile?
Originally posted by FluffyTonkaI sat in batting practice for nearly 2 hours and used all the swings.
i couldn't notice a discernible difference between power and normal swing as far as actual power goes unless you go dead red and barrel it up. which even in practice with the ball coming in middle/ low centre was really difficult.
the margin for error is tiny.
contact swing tho. it's a game changer, imo. behind in counts, against good pitchers, just getting bat on ball is difficult. but, contact swing keeps the bat in across the plate longer, and get all these fluky bloops and dinks that find their way onto the grass.
my batting average has gone up a few points just from incorporating contact swing regularly into my at-bats.Comment

Re: Is Power Swing Worthwhile?
I rarely use power swing, very rarely.
However, using contact swing when down in the count 0-2 or 1-2 can REALLY make you a better hitter especially on the harder difficulties or against a top notch pitcher. 1) it helps foul off close pitches that are out of the zone and 2) it really ups your confidence when down in the count and you don't chase as much.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: Is Power Swing Worthwhile?
Only use it occasionally, If I have a power hitter up, I will sometimes use it on 3-0 and 3-1 counts if i get a get me over pitch right down the middle or thereabouts.Comment

Originally posted by PhlliesPhan6I rarely ever use the Contact Button but after reading this I used it in any 2 Strike Count I got in to (Unless there was a double play opprotunity). I had at least 2 pitches normally would have been a strikeout that my guy knocked into play for a base hit. And a few more that I grounded out on that I know for sure I would have struck out on before.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: Is Power Swing Worthwhile?
I never use it and I hit plenty of HR.
Years ago I used it vs Knuckleballs, but it doesn't seem to make difference anymore.
I used to use contact swing with 2 strike counts because you'd get a high success rate on checked swings, but not anymore, so it's always normal swing.Comment
