    Re: Stupid rules ..

I don't mind the 3 batter min rule IRL, although with the pitch clock, mound visit limitations, and if they put a clock on the visits, I don't know that its really needed as a way to "speed" up the game.

But if they insist on keeping it, which they will, I wish it would mirror the extra inning ghost runner rule and not have it in place during the playoffs.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

This is kind of how I feel about it. While I miss some of the management aspects, I don't miss a manager changing pitchers 3 times in an inning. I liked it when it was first introduced to keep the game moving but with the pitch clock I don't know if it's as necessary now.

For the ghost runner rule, I wish they played an inning or two without it and then started it in the 11th inning or so.

I know baseball purists hate the rules to keep the game going, but as a 41 year old with kids and a full time job, sometimes I just don't have time to sit and watch a 4 hour game.

I’m not the biggest fan of the ghost runner rule, but you know who is? Managers and GMs.

Teams hate extra innings to begin with, especially when it’s a day game after a night game. They have to waste pitchers and with the new rules about when position players can pitch, it makes it more important to save the arms in the bullpen. So the fact that the chance of an extra inning game being over in the 10th or 11th has increased, teams like it more since they can manage their pitchers easier and not have to worry about wasting everyone in a long game and forcing a starter to eat innings their next day.

For an old guy like myself (55 ouch), I'm in the minority. I have no issues with the either the extra inning runner, or the 3 batter minimum rule. I don't really like extra innings to be honest anyway, it takes too damn long.

I'll take it a step further and say, why does the manager have to walk out to the mound for a pitching change, take the ball from the pitcher, wait for the reliever, then hand the reliever the ball, and walk back to the bench. Just make the call from the bench.

And why does the reliever get to warm up on the mound, after warming up already in the bullpen? Just come in the game ready to go. Pinch hitters don't get any practice pitches when they step in the batters box.

All little time savers that don't mess with the sanctity of the game itself, in my opinion.

The warmup on the mound thing is to both get extra warmup pitches in and also get used to the mound and see if it needs to be tweaked/fixed. Jose Alvarado did it the other night in the Phillies/Mets game where his landing point was a little too dug up, so they had to come out and fix it for him. Otherwise I completely agree, time = money so any way they can save more time and get more baseball played more efficiently, I’m all here for it.

              fair point

Its just lame to me though. Like the guys that think cover-2 should be banned.

Can't come up with a plan to beat it.. so change the rules?

Shouting at the wind though, I know.

Yeah the new shift rule, I'm not a fan of that one. Seems silly.

Getting a feel for how the mound is that particular day...it's a feel thing.

The manager coming to get the pitcher is tradition and also a respect thing. Some things should never change.

However I have gotten used to the three batter rule...I wish they would modify it for the post season though and make it 2 batters. Also thank god there is no ghost runner in the post season.

After watching ST this year with the ABS....I really liked it. Quick, painless and it eliminates egregious strike/ball calls.
