I get why people are anxious to see them and I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I don't think they should show the fly-ins before release (and, if they do, I hope to have the self-control not to watch ).

I just think it will provide that initial "wow" factor when first starting my brand new PS4 baseball game and be an awesome intro to the potential of "next gen." I personally think it's worth the wait to preserve that.

This is just a general thought, not really specific to PS4, but why does the MLB license only cover the previous season? Why can't a player be officially in the game if they've played at least one major league game, even if that was 5 years ago?

Just curious, if the guy only played ONE game and it was FIVE years ago, why would you want to use him? (I know it's an example, but still).

Well you want as many players as possible though surely?

Yeah ok the example isn't great but if a guy is a September call-up one year, goes to the minors for a year and then gets called up again as a starter the following year (which isn't too far fetched), it'd be frustrating if he wasn't in the game for those two years.

As many MLB players as possible can't be a bad thing.

Players have to be a part of the MLBPA. So Mike Olt for example was called up in 2012, but didn't play in the Majors in 2013 thus losing his MLBPA status and he recently got it back on Opening day. The only way a player is in the game the following year without playing the prevoius season is if he was on a 40 Man roster and out for the season with an injury.
See players like Michael Pineda, Dylan Bundy, Victor Martinez, John Lackey.

The only way a player is in the game the following year without playing the prevoius season is if he was on a 40 Man roster and out for the season with an injury.

Does anyone think that with the new generation of consoles and the demise of MLB 2K, we could get a game with fully licensed players throughout the minors?

That would mean that Knight and Co would have a much easier time of doing OSFM if all they had to adjust was ratings and stances

No, because that would require paying for rights to the MiLB license, and it's 1. a lot more money for he devs to spend for it, 2. a lot more time and effort than what they already have. I think the way it works now with Knight and co. doing the OSFM's works fine.

Actually, there is no MiLB (Players Association) license to be had... That's what makes it difficult, because you'd have to negotiate 100s of individual deals.
