Well, some of that also seems like it would be largely foundational (as I expect most of the year one implementation will be...remember, they are not only trying to set up their entire run on a generation of consoles, but also not step back feature-wise as well) to make future add-ons/adjustments easier to implement.

Plus, from the interview and write up earlier, it sounds like they main thing with the rebuild was the base physics and geometry of the stadiums-importing more 3 dimensional surfaces for more realistic structure and interaction, etc. That's not something that's going to show up very well in still shots (especially the zoomed out ones you posted).

In fact, just from similarly comparing console games to PC for so many years, the kind of differences I expect we'll see from PS3 to PS4 in general won't really jump out as significant or "wow worthy" until we see it in motion anyway (which, unfortunately, I'm thinking could be awhile if the game isn't releasing until whenever in May).

I would love to have the Bleacher Creatures doing the Roll Call at Yankee Stadium, Sweet Caroline being sung at Fenway, the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley. Little things like that would be awesome.

At least I have the Neil Diamond version on the old games at fenway.

I thought the same thing. And from those pictures, the OLD Fenway actually looks better to me in terms of colors and sharpness. The new version has like neon bright colors and looks fake. Obviously we've seen the closeups of the stadium paint a different picture, but the color scheme looks weird in that picture.

I'm sure they got the colors right at Fenway.

I'm hoping that with the new grass implemented the physics on rolling balls will be improved. I'm tired of ground balls hit down the line not getting to the wall.

It might be a lot harder than you'd think. The crowd models may have to have different animations if the bleachers aren't the exact same height/shape as the seats. I agree it should be in their if they are striving for a realistic ballpark, but if they don't feel its worth the time/money, they should spend it on something more pressing.

I'll take no bleachers if that means the person responsible for modeling them added something else to the game that was deemed more important.

I hope the dev team sees this... (MAYBE make it in this year, but definitely next year)... but i've noticed for how pretty the new grass looks, the dirt still looks like a flat textured surface. It should look like it's got small bumps and rocks and such through it. Anyone who's played baseball knows the dirt isn't flat and smooth looking like that. Just saying, if they wanna go for the realistic feel and look.... just look at the thread on top of the PS4 page by Steve with the Matt Carpenter pic, that's a great close up of the difference between the grass and dirt.

You guys are complaining about inaccuracies in screenshots coming anywere between 4 and 7 months prior to release? Really?

Maybe they are, you know, not done yet.

I am hoping for more ambience at the parks. The blue lights on the rotundas at PNC and on the Clemente Bridge. The passing boats on the rivers, planes/blimps in the sky, and cars on the roads. These were things that they started doing that really immersed the user into the ballparks. Seeing a train go by or the moon overhead is always something that helps paint a picture of realism. New weather should help some too, especially if the roofs end up closing in the stadiums with the options.

The first thing I always do in any sports game is fire up a game at a venue I have been to or love watching in real life to see how closely they nailed it. The measure of how well that game equals real life is usually tied into that on a major level, in my eyes.

Looks to me like the scale and depth of the stadium is better look at how steep the center field stands look on ps3. I know at wrigley in all previous versions it's been way off too.

I agree with what you guys are saying about stadium exteriors. Here's an example of that concept from FIFA, just to help everyone visualize what that would look like-

I've been playing that game a lot and it's really well executed. There's multiple shots of the stadiums that have gotten the treatment, moving traffic, etc. That's the kind of innovation I'd like to see moving forward.

Would be nice to have a exterior stadium fly-by, aka Triple Play

I'm really hoping for retractable roofs, if only to spice up some options when playing as the Jays. They've got such a nasty field, perhaps some more variety when it comes to lighting possibilities would spice it up a bit. That or the ability for me to go in and rip out that awful turf.
