    Re: Weather

On the subject of weather that literally effects the user's vision... the problem is the CPU will not have the same disadvantage.

For example, the CPU had no trouble playing in Cleveland back in the day when it was impossible to hit there.

It sounds interesting to add dynamic weather that actually affects gameplay... but I'd be pretty annoyed unless it was realistically balanced out for CPU games.

Nothing about dynamic weather in the fact sheet. Oh well.

Something like this? Ha! I was at this game last year at Coors Field. Coldest game in MLB history. The Rockies average a few snowouts a year, so if they ever implement rain outs, snow outs for rain outs in Denver.

          Re: Weather

I only want weather when it can be implemented properly. I wouldn't want rain delays if it just begins raining and you get a message saying the game has been called. I'd want heavy rain, light rain, etc. Like others have mentioned, it affects the batter's eye. The balls shouldn't travel as far, they shouldn't roll as fast in the grass, players should run the bases more slowly. The throwing meter for throws should reflect that it's harder to throw accurately. Setting your feet for throws should give a massive advantage over off-balance throws.

If it's purely or mostly cosmetic then I'll pass. This is something they should take their time with and think through all the impacts weather has on the baseball game.

            Re: Weather

It may have been the old All Star Baseball series that did weather right. Before the game the announcers would say that there is a chance of rain throughout the game and the skies would be overcast. Then at some point it would start to rain. Sometimes you could finish the game and other times they would show the players run off the field for a delay. Then the game would either resume or be postponed and, just like real life, would become official if you were past the top half of the 5th inning. This happens in baseball, and frankly I'm a little surprised it isn't in the show after all these years.

Having played baseball my whole life in the Midwest, I can tell you that weather plays as much of a factor in a game as anything else. Throwing a baseball when it's 35 degrees is not as easy as you think...let alone trying to hit when it's raining and the water drops keeping falling off the brim of your helmet.

I can relate kind of. Varsity ball senior year doing practices in March in the freezing cold, trying to throw it was tough and being jammed inside on the swing was a B**** on my hands. lol. And then in the rain, try hitting the ball looking though the rain, yeah.. good luck.

The only thing I want for weather wise in the show is real time cloud coverage, I would like to see the clouds moving across the sky, casting shadows and having light break thru the clouds causing it to become dark and bright when the clouds past by the sun.

pretending to be the best baseball game ever and you still have to play Toronto game at 30F in April, or rainy game in Milwaukee, Seattle, Milwaukee, even Miami ? a 110 degree game in Phoenix in July ??? common

No more simply Day/Night. There needs to be a 1:30, 4:15, 7:30, and 8:00 times.

Dying for this. And they need to add the random airplane and helicopter to the ambient audio. Those two factors together would knock socks off and virtually complete the esthetic package.

Agreed--this would certainly be enough for me.

While rain outs are cool, I'm not trying to spend (valuable) time playing 4 innings of ball to have it rained out/cancelled and I have to play it again--but that's just me.

With that said, MLBTS '14 will be my first taste of this greatness, as I've been stuck with MLB2K for the past...ever. So even what may be unpolished to all of you, will be leaps and bounds above what I am used to! Can't wait...

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the current version of the game have this already? I'm seen games start at 3:10 before.

Maybe for franchise games that we're played in the central time zone (like a Cub's home game) where a 4:10 ET game was played (3:10 CT). But there was never an option for this in exhibition games.

Speaking of which, they need to fix that. The game has the shadows stop at some point and the lighting stops progressing. The 1:00 games look more like 3 o'clock games. And as far out as the shadow stretches, the lights should be on. The end of a 3:05 game ought to look like this:

Basically, it should look like the beginning of a night game. MLB 2K11 had this right, believe it or not. Another cool thing, and someone posted about this, is that the ball ought to get lost in the shadow late in the afternonn. 2K11 had this too. But, as posted before, this ought to affect the computer as well, it didn't in 2K11.

On the topic of weather, the rain looked totally unrealistic in 2K13, but it didn't happen that often, so that wasn't too much of a factor. I would like to be able to choose the weather too, I paid sixty bucks for the game, let me choose what to do with it. And there were never any overcast night games either.

They did a good job portraying cold too in the last installment of The Show. Maybe one other thing they could add is just how bad the bat stings when you make contact in the cold. And maybe have a few of the fans wearing that stupid "I bought this sweater because" sweaters.

But that brown ivy early in the season at Wrigley was epic.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!
