Is a high B a 88 overall player with B potential or a 70 overall player with 88 potential or is it both?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm a bit new to this.

We're referring to the potential of a player. The upcoming spreadsheet will give you a better look of how things are structured

Here's a link to the spreadsheet through SkyDrive: http://1drv.ms/QTeEZy

Apparently it didn't work with Google Docs because it cut off half the sheet.

A great big thanks to 37 and AC for helping out with the spreadsheet. It wouldn't be half as good if those guys didn't put down several hours to value players and going through rosters/depth charts

I would say Carlos Santana isn't a franchise corner stone and is definitely available for trade given the right circumstances.

Also you have Justin Upton's age wrong. On the sheet it has 29 but he's only 26.

Also Josh Johnson just signed with the team so he should be unrealistic.

But he's signed through 2016 with a 2017 club option. He was extended back in 2012 and by giving him a 5 year extension, I'm sure the Indians did view him and still view him as a franchise cornerstone. They're making him switch between C, 1B, 3B and DH just to have his bat in the lineup

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Just noticed the new spreadsheet. You guys are amazing. That must take a lot of time to update each year.

Checked out the Cubs section and I have some minor observations.

One player named is Dan Beeler, but his name is Dallas Beeler.

Kris Bryant is not on the sheet (which is not really an issue because he ain't going anywhere--MONSTER! It's like he's got a shovel up there at the plate.)

Travis Wood is a bit undervalued. I think he's worth more than the low B/high C combo. Maybe not by a lot, but I think his performance and youth/handedness make him worth a pair of low Bs at the least.

Darwin Barney is a bit overvalued at 2 high Cs. As much as we Cubs fans want to (and some still do) like him, he's really nothing but a defensive replacement. So, maybe 1 high C would be appropriate. Dude just cannot hit.

Baez should have, at minimum, the same value as Xander Bogaerts, but Bogaerts is worth 2 As and change, but Baez only 1 A.

Welington Castillo is worth a low or mid B.

Brett Jackson is worth a bag of peanuts, not a high C, lol. And Josh Vitters should have the same value as B.J. Upton, lol. YOU CAN HAVE HIM!

Love the sheet. Just my 2 cents. Will check out the other teams once I start playing when MLB 14 drops for PS4. I may even do the unthinkable (not like that Alicia Keys song) but I mean do a Cubs 'chise...

EDIT: Also did not see Arismendy Alcantara, who is starting at 2B at AAA Iowa. Alcantara is rated by most as a Top 10 spect in the Cubs system (Top 5 by some). If you add him to the sheet, probably high B + low B or thereabouts is appropriate. Everyone talks about the "Core 4" with Bryant/Baez/Soler/Almora and Edwards to some extent too, but this kid is legit. Alcantara makes errors by the pound and won't walk enough (though he's not Castro-ian in his plate discipline either), but his OPS has gone up each of the last 4 years and he's doing that at increased competition levels each time (no repeated levels). His OPS is at .855 early on this year. wRC+ 121, 132, 114 over last 3 seasons.

Mmmm. He is set to make 6, 8 and 12 million in the next 3 years. He's not someone who they won't trade because he's just so dominant. He's a good player, but I personally don't think the Indians are tying to build a team around HIM. Just my 2 cents anyways.

I could change his note to Unrealistic - long term extension with the team. Maybe that's more suited for him? The more I think about it, cornerstone ain't something you call a guy like him. Goldy, Cutch and those guys are cornerstones

Well his contract is getting more expensive by the year and its only 3 more years. I'ts unrealistic to be traded a year or 2 into a long term deal but not unrealistic to be traded on the back end of that deal especially if the salary is loaded towards to back.

And I agree, a cornerstone is someone who is elite that you build a team around. I could see Santana being traded to a team who is in contention and needs a C/3B/1B

I agree. He's no cornerstone, but he's also likely staying put in Cleveland. That's a VERY friendly contract for a guy so versatile. He's obviously off to a horrible start this year, but how about changing his note to something like "unrealistic: plays in city of the Rock n Roll HoF and shares the name of one of the greatest guitarists/musicians in American history" ??

So I'm waiting for the OSFM rosters to come out and now with the spreadsheet I came up with a few trades. Tell me what you like and don't like.

Jarred Cosart for Jace Peterson (Low B).

Altuve for Hunter Renfroe (Mid B) and Everth Cabrera (Low B).

Neftali Feliz for Will Venable and Keyvius Sampsonm(Low B).

Paco Rodriguez for Robbie Erlin (High C).

Starlin Castro for Rymer Liriano (High B) and Max Fried (High B). I have a question on this one though. Both Castro and Fried are worth 2 High Bs so would just Fried be ok?

Jarrod Parker for Hunter Renfroe (Mid B) and Zach Eflin (Mid B).

Ben Revere for Will Venable (Low B).

Eric Hosmer for Rymer Liriano (High B), Cameron Maybin (Low B) and Kyle Blanks (High C).

Shelby Miller for Austin Hedges (Low A), Rymer Liriano (High B), and Cameron Maybin (Low B).
