Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I have a Yankees Franchise and am doing well to start. I'm looking to trade Michael Pineda after a bad start but a good rebound over the past 5 starts, and Gary Sanchez for some infield help, maybe for the future. Particularly at 2B and SS, anyone have any ideas on who these two guys could land?

    Thanks!

Rays offered the Dodger a trade for Ethier. They offered Hak-Ju Lee, Juan Oviedo, and Taylor Guerrieri.

I declined the trade, but I was wondering if a trade for Ethier for the Rays made sense? It's a lot of salary for them to add, but I would think the addition of a good bat in the corner OF is a smart move for them. I was considering one of Lee/Guerrieri and Oviedo (he's been a part of 3-4 trades that I've declined) for Ethier. Thoughts?

Rays are at the bottom of the AL East, but it's 50 games in, so there's a lot of time to catch up. Dodgers are leading the NL West. Either is batting .340ish with 10 HRs and 40ish RBI

Andrus? Don't know if that will work. Eh away from my system so can't see who else. Might need to add more pieces to it.

So while I wait for the OSFM hybrid to start my Mets franchise I'm thinking of doing 1 with the Orioles and going completely win now mode, trading away all of my prospects for MLB talent.
What do you think it would take to get Samardzija to the Orioles, do you think it would be possible without trading Gausman.

Rodriguez + Schoop + another young piece (High C/Low B) should do it.

Cubs infield is overloaded with prospects, they don't really need Schoop. Any trade involving Shark is going to revolve around a pitching prospect.

Orioles would absolutely not part with Bundy or Gausman. Hunter Harvey was just drafted so Zach Britton would be the only other guy with value really. May not be a good trade fit.

Edit: Also Rodriguez is a Low A in OSFM as a starter so he would be the centerpiece

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Started a million franchises and think I'll settle with my Yanks. Will play out the first few months before I decide what direction I'll be going. Here are some trades I'm thinking about though:

                    Padres get: 2B Corban Joseph

Yanks get: SS Everth Cabrera (going to limit DJ to mostly DH for the year)

This one might be too much on my side getting back but (also if I'm out of the race and if the Giants are in it)

Giants get: SP CC Sabathia and LF Brett Gardner

Yanks get: SP Kyle Crick, SP Edwin Escobar, RP Heath Hembree can take back Lincey for financial reasons if need be (also if he is struggling and Vogelsong is killing it) can also add more

Also if I'm out of the race and Dodgers are in it but a starter or two are struggling and Hiroki is on fuego

Dodgers get: SP Hiroki Kuroda and OF Mason Williams + more?

Yanks get: 3B Corey Seager (might/probably/most likely need to add more for him) or SP Zach Lee (same as Corey) or SP Tom Windle/Chris Anderson/Jacob Scavuzzo (without Mason)

Also thinking of dealing Nova, would adding him to the Everth deal get me Jace Peterson? Add more?

                    or trading Nova to:
Pirates for SP Clay Holmes or RF Harold Ramirez or 3B Wyatt Mathisen?
Reds for SP Jeremy Kivel or RF Phil Ervin?
Cubs for SS Gleyber Torres or SP Dillon Maples or SP Paul Blackburn?
                    Phillies for SS JP Crawford?
Rangers for SP Nick Martinez or LF Nick Williams?
Angels for CP Mike Morin or SP Mark Sappingont?
Twins (if they're in the race) for SP Lewis Thorpe?
                    Tigers for SS Javier Betancourt?
White Sox for 2B Gordon Beckham?

                    Some other minor moves
Mariners (if in the race) get: RF Alfonso Soriano

Yanks get: SP Tyler Pike &SS Ketel Marte going off purely the chart

or to the Angels, don't know what I could get back though. Sori would most likely have to go to a AL team to DH and play outfield from time to time.

White Sox get: RF Ichiro Suzuki

Yanks Get: 2B Marcus Semien & SS Leury Garcia

Again most of these trades are hypothetical depending on where I'm come June/July. Some like Sori or Ichiro or Nova I would like to do in late May. The Everth Cabrera one as well (or package Nova and Joseph for him and Jace). Let me know what you guys think, ultimately going for fairness. Although I wouldn't mind y'all saying why or why not it's realistic. Thanks for the help.

I know it isn't going to be a popular idea, but I want to trade for A-Rod in my Mariners franchise. Bring him back to his roots and get that 3000th hit. So, what could I do to get him back? I have the OSFM v2 25 man roster. The only things the Yankees seem to like straight up for A-Rod are Cano, Iwakuma, or Walker. I really don't want to move any of those away. I haven't had any free time to try a bunch of different ideas out. What else can I do to get A-Rod?

In real life, the Yanks would send A-Rod for a 6 pack. My advice would be to turn force trades on (if you can in the middle of your franchise, I have no idea if that's possible) and send any C potential player. If you can't do that, you can edit his ratings all the way down, make the trade, then edit them back once you get him.

It's a lot of salary for them to add, but I would think the addition of a good bat in the corner OF is a smart move for them. I was considering one of Lee/Guerrieri and Oviedo (he's been a part of 3-4 trades that I've declined) for Ethier. Thoughts?

Nah, I don't think it makes sense. Wil and Dez are everyday starters in the OF, while DeJesus mans LF most of the time against righties, while Sean Rodriguez plays there often against lefties (he can also play just about everywhere else). Joyce can play the corners when he's not DHing, as can Zobrist when necessary. They also have Guyer for depth.

To summarize: I don't think it makes sense for Tampa to trade one of their top prospects for Ethier, especially given the salary. They've got plenty of options in the OF, and Ethier is just another platoon player, especially one who can only hit righties.

I'm trying to trade all of my prospects in this franchise so I'm not really looking for realism in terms of what the Orioles would do, do you think replacing Schoop with Mike Wright would make that deal work, if not what about with Harvey?
