Re: MLB 14 The Show Video and Screenshots - The Stadiums (PS4)
Based on a lot of comments, the animations look the same because they are playing baseball. They are fielding, hitting, and pitching in the PS4 version just like the PS3. I think they even stole animations from MLB2k! McCutchen made a diving catch (I've seen that exact animation on the 2K game!)
I'm being very sarcastic here for a reason. I'm sorry but the animation argument isn't a legitimate one, or a very weak one at best. There are only so many ways to hit, pitch, and field. Everyone has their own little nuance to doing it, but those are only noticeable to those specifically looking for it.
Are there times when the criticism is warranted? Absolutely. However, the general statements after every video saying the PS4 is like the PS3 because of the animations is overplayed. It's baseball, you cannot change that. They can continue to add new animations, but they typically don't remove many so you will continue to see the same ones every year. Variety may be key, but you cannot have that takeaway from a 2 second clip of an animation.
I'm okay with the stadium complaints. Those can be passed along to appropriate person at the studio to try to get into the game. I don't think it's a purchase killer if they use white font instead of yellow, but letting them know so they can fix it is needed. When you're so close to a project, you naturally overlook little details like that.Comment

Just to nitpick a little, why is the orioles fan (an adult male) holding up a sign with the orioles logo on it? No way this would ever happen at a game. All the games I go to, guys are drinking beer and eating food. No signs, unless you are 8 or a girl that has a crush on the shortstop. I just think more detail should be put into actual gameplay then audience members and ball boys that are barely noticed.

I'm going to buy and enjoy the game but to me it doesn't look like a huge improvement. I know nba 2k14 had its online issues but to me that was a true next gen upgrade. I was expecting the show to have new player models and not the wide shouldered short armed modelsComment

I rarely complain about the game, but the shoulders on the players are one of the few things I don't care for and they only really stand out when batting they just have too much of a square, stiff look to them. Other than that I couldn't be happier for what we have seen for the ps4.Comment

I don't mind reusing animations but some transitional animations aren't good.Comment

Man Gagnon, you've sure gotten jaded brother. I am a self proclaimed eye candy whore most of the time, but it's night and day how much better the PS4 version looks, from the grass, to the extra detail in the stadiums and the lighting. It's more than just a subtle difference when you add everything up. And it's year one on a new generation of console. To me that's pretty darn impressive.Comment
