Haven't been playing as much lately, but the past 3-4 days I played through like 2 months of my 2nd season and finally finished it, so I figured I'd do an update. For year 1, click here. At long last....

After his stint in the big leagues in 2014, folks were doing a lot of talking about Julian Moses going into 2015. He had power, speed and arm tools that were all more than big league ready. His glove and his hit tool both needed work but looked like they had plenty of room to grow into exceptional tools in their own right. I mention this because one of the themes of Julian's second season was being in and out of the field, as they moved him to DH multiple times, perhaps because of a perceived lack of fielding ability. Julian was adamant that he was a Centerfielder but word from those around the club was that Julian would consider a move to a corner outfield spot, preferably Left Field, where he had shown a strong arm in AAA and felt comfortable playing. Unfortunately, Alex Gordon has a stronghold at that position, and Aoki in right, so Julian kept his mouth shut and played Center when he could, and when they penciled him in at DH he went out there and hit.
Julian enjoyed a successful season at the plate, posting pretty much unheard of numbers for a player of his age. And the Royals surprised everybody by smoking the AL Central en route to a 98-64 season, with the Tigers in 2nd place at 78-84

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
- During the All-Star events midseason, Julian was invited to participate in the homerun derby, which took place in Cincinnati.

Julian managed to beat out Troy Tulowitzki in the final round to take home the hardware.

Also, Julian just snuck onto the All-Star team, although he was only able to get off the bench long enough to pinch run. I snapped a picture of him at first base just to prove he made it lol

In other highlights, Julian managed to homer off of David Price, King Felix, Yu Darvish and Justin Verlander this year......

In the end, Julian posted these numbers to end the season.

PLAYOFFS
The Royals got a berth into the ALDS with their 98 win season, and awaited the winner of the A's and Rangers, which turned out to be the A's.
The Royals got off to a great start, winning game 1 at home (with Julian finding his bat, going 4 for 8 over the first 2 games with a triple, double, homer, and single in that order and 4 RBIs), but the A's won game 2 and 3 behind some poor pitching by the Royals and a late rally in game 2, and then more of the same in game 3. The Royals stormed back in game 4 to force a game 5 at home, but unfortunately the A's were too much. Season over.
OFFSEASON
Some big retirements around the league, including: Big Papi (retired at 480 homers), Joey Bats, Cliff Lee, Chase Utley, Tim Hudson, Joe Nathan, Torii Hunter, Jimmy Rollins, Paul Konerko (457 HR), Mark Buehrle, Papelbon, Dickey, Victor Martinez, and others. The only one who made the HOF at least in the first year was Joe Nathan.
In the offseason, James Shields declined from a 91 to an 80, but the Royals went out and nabbed Mat Latos (28 years old, 91 overall, A potential) for 4 years/$73m to replace him as the Ace. Then we went and gave David Hernandez 3 years/$16m (30 years old, 86 overall, A potential) to be our setup man for Greg Holland (88 overall). I almost couldn't believe it. I've never seen my team go out and spend money on premiere free agents like that in any RTTS before, but then again I usually play with small or mid market teams.
I'm excited for Year 3. Hoping to defend our AL Central crown and this year make it a little further in the playoffs with a new Ace. Hopefully it won't take me so long to finish the season this time.
