If a store has the PS3 and the PS4 version out on display. Find a cashier to scan the PS3 version, so the register won't catch the street date, then take the PS4 version. Same price, they shouldn't care. I have done this in the past. Best way to get a game early.

This is actually stealing and I would advise people not to try it.

You would have to find that one associate who screws up and somehow overrides the register to make the sale go through or know someone working there who could do it.

If you can catch them on a technicality. Otherwise, probably not. The employees at the stores nearby, are to well informed.

Ya I got as close as the cashier ringing up the game at Walmart and Target. Both times the system wouldn't take it.

Just out of curiosity: for those of you who picked up the game at "mom and pop" stores, were they selling of their own accord (to anyone who asked) or you had connections with the store (made an exception/did you a favour)?

Stealing is taking something and not paying for it. Or conning someone into charging you less that you should pay through the method described.

Since neither scenario applies and you would still be paying for it, it is anything but stealing.

EXACTLY. In that case it was never payed for. If they dont ring up the PS4 copy and you take it that means you stole it. Just because they rung up the PS3 copy doesnt mean your entitled to the PS4 copy. I work retail. This would be stealing if you intentionally try to pull a stunt like this.

EDIT: I guess I should have stated, what im saying is if you get them to ring up one thing then just take something else thats stealing, now if the store rings up the PS3 version for you because the PS4 version wont, and they hand you the PS4 version then its the cashier who is responsible. I think we were looking at it a little differently, cause its a grey area depending how things go down.

Okay then. Good luck prosecuting someone who pay's $60 for a game that costs $60.


Again, I agree it's immoral, not right, wrong on all levels. But not stealing. In fact, you would be in trouble with your store for selling it before the consumer would be in trouble for buying it. And no, I am not naive to the retail business.




Anyways, to those looking for it in Pittsburgh.

I work downtown and checked every one of the small stores downtown today which is the only place here you would be able to get it and no dice....
