Saw one of these on the Madden forum so I figured i'd start one for the MLB The Show 14 forum.

I know the game isn't officially out yet but we do have some info thanks to users getting their copies early.

Hopefully we can get this stickied eventually.

I'll start...

Mets

Missing uniforms - Alternate snow white home uniform, Alternate blue and orange home uniform, Alternate blue and orange away uniform.

Errors - Alternate black uniform. No longer part of rotation.

Yankees

Errors - Numbers on home/away uniforms are a bit lower than they are suppose to be.

Hearing the PS4 (which I waited for) is the same as Vita/PS3, I put this thread up. I'm not going into a style guide/memory/ps3 vs 4 fight or anything. Being a uniform junkie, I'm just going to list which uniforms that I feel are wrong or missing this season and hopefully things can change for the future. Feel free to add/delete/etc. I'm going by the video on YouTube so I may not be 100% accurate

Astros: Good
A's: Good (even though the home cap is listed as a road alt)
Angels: Good
Rangers: Good
Mariners: Good, but if history serves me correctly, the Pilots are not part of their history.


Twins: Good
Indians: Error - Road throwback pants should be red
Tigers: Good
Royals: Good
Sox: Missing - throwback BP hat


Rays: Missing - Columbia blue Sunday jersey Error - All blue Columbia hat on fauxbacks instead of front panel cut out only.
Yanks: Good
Sox: Good
O's: Good
Jays: Missing - Red BP hat

Mets: Missing - Blue Alt home, Blue Alt road, Blue/Orange Alt hat
Nats: Good
Marlins: Error - Home BP cap is not all white. Should just be white front panel
Braves: Missing - Red Military jersey, Alt throwback BP cap
Phils: Good

Pirates: Error - New font should ONLY be on home/road/alt and not on every jersey. Throwback shouldn't have pinstripes, but thick stripes. Missing - Throwback BP hat
Brewers: Missing - Gold jersey, Home Navy jersey. Error - wrong blue on home throwback
Reds: Good
Cards: Good (forgot to check Sunday cap)
Cubs: Good


Giants: Good
Dodgers: Good
Padres: I think the BP is wrong. It should have a white front panel if I'm not mistaken
Rox: Good (even though the vests are worn with black undershirts and the purple hat hasn't been used in years)
D-Backs: Good




For the most part, teams are pretty good. The Mets, Rays, and Brewers probably suffer the hardest as current jerseys are left out in favor of military (5 Mondays for the Mets) or other throwbacks (Brewers) taking up a slot.


There are ton of other throwback choices that would have been better as the Phils, O's, Cubs, D-Backs are slated to wear them during the season.


Also, special days like the July 4th, Memorial Day Camo, etc are not included.


Hope that helps. I'm not here to fight, just to put out some info and I'm sure I'll find little details as I get the game next week for PS4.

I like this, I think if utilized properly, this can be a constructive thread. Hopefully this can also contain all uniform clutter to this one thread. I wish there was a way that us players can find out which uniform errors are style guide-related and which ones aren't.

Maybe now that the Brewers are winning they'll give us a little more attention lol.

The navy alternate is the incorrect one... For away I believe. Also, the Brewers rarely if ever still wear the pinstripes, but they have yet to include the gold alternates in game, which they wear at least a couple times a month.

Cleveland Indians Alternate home cream or "tope" jerseys, They wear Red undershirts and Socks, and the Batting Helmets DO NOT replicate the spring training hat.
Further to that point for every Indians game home or away the Helmet is entrely Navy with a Red C logo.

The piping around the necks especially on the away alternate blue's is way to thick, this is a problem with other jerseys as well such as the Marlins Black Alternate, same the trim around the neck is far to thick.

Hopefully for next year we can have the throwback pullovers actually pullovers without buttons.

I hope this thread gets taken into consideration and doesn't turn sour, there's nothing wrong trying to help out the team in San Diego

Very minor detail, but it could be a legal issue. The Tom Clancy name badge on the Orioles sleeve is missing. They did add the Orioles 60th anniversary though. Looks great.

Mets Road Grey Uniform - Still has the black drop shadow behind the letters "New York".

This is the 3rd straight season I've tried to let SCEA this needed to be fixed. Maybe they will finally get to it in MLB 15...

Not to mention their home whites are missing as compared to prior years. Don't know why they did that. That's their day game uniforms. In fact i don't think ANY with the exception of the pinstripe and away (which you accurately stated are wrong) are uniforms they actually use.

I don't see why they don't just claim the Mets all white and blue are throwbacks. Put them in the game that way.

Also I called Majestic to see if when selling a jersey what rules they had to follow....and sure enough the customer service rep claimed they had to follow the MLB style guide. I then asked what if the style guide was wrong. I will have that answer tomorrow. So it seems that the style guide does actually contain this material in it.

I know this topic has been beaten to death but seriously MLB The Show is the ONLY thing affiliated with MLB that has to follow the style guide. That makes no sense at all.

This issue is really annoying. The first few times something is left out the game I overlooked it but this year its just ridiculous. It wont stop me from playing though because it is a great game.

Posted this yesterday in the PS3 uniform error list and also got my response today. The Majestic representative said they follow the style guide and can't deviate from it. So we can conclude a few things here: 1. The Style Guide is correct and has all the uniforms 2. The Show's claim of "following the style guide" is not true (like the reason a uniform is omitted or wrong)

I don't think a lot of you have ever seen a style guide. I have worked with them for all 4 major sports and I can tell you that most of the time they are outdated or incorrect because the teams do not adhere to them or make changes that deviate from them.

The actual purpose of the guide is to protect the brand. Teams and leagues want to ensure that when they sell their rights to use their likenesses or images on/in a product that they are being represented in the way that they have set forth as being agreed upon being used prior to a season starting.

How it doesn't work is that teams do not have to adhere to the guide and can wear anything within the league guidelines, or with special approval of the league, during a game. Hence why you see camo, flag, retro, throwback, negro league, futuristic, and all kinds of special promotional jerseys on the field during a season in all leagues, especially minor leagues.

This game would have to negotiate other ways to use any of those uniforms that are not actually in the style guide for MLB. That is the reason that things are not always matching what you see on the field, unfortunately. SCEA's hands are tied on this.
