Re: Outfielder Speed, Lack of Balls Hit Over Heads?
I see balls over their heads quite often, too. Only for them to track them down, nearly each and every time. Slowing them down really isn't the final answer as it makes true gap shots even more deadly. I have found triples increase when this is done, which is not my intended final solution. I want some fly balls that are over the outfielder's where they pull up and play the one hop off of the wall, or slow up near the warning track. Not everyone should be Jim Edmonds out there making the over the head grabs and covering more ground than a cheetah.Comment

So some of you feel these would be the best settings for more realistic outfield play?
fielder speed - 2
fielder reaction - 7Last edited by tnixen; 05-05-2014, 06:28 PM.Comment

It's a delicate balancing act because the game is tuned for realistic stats. Every year B Ma runs thousands upon thousands of innings then he runs the numbers through his program to make sure the game is at league averages for doubles, triples etc.....
I wanted to drop it down 3 more notches this year but if the sims numbers are correct he isn't changing it.Comment

Seeing a perfectly fine number. Now I do use my own sliders but yes, they are definitely there.Comment

I did this two years ago and dropped down the speed and arm strength a couple of notches.

I think the hit variety is pretty spot in, its just how those hits manifest in game that is a bit off. For example very few doubles occur via ground balls down the lines, which is a common occurrence in the MLB compared to The Show. But overall the total number of doubles is good.Last edited by MrOldboy; 05-05-2014, 06:55 PM.Comment

Could the OF speed be dropped for real-time gameplay independently from the simulation? Or is it already?

Wait, are you referring to the in game simulation when you fast forward, or on games when you sim in franchise via the schedule?Comment

Neither I'm referring to game development tools you guys don't have access to. Think of a cpu vs. Cpu game only being played really really fast and with 1k innings instead of 9.Comment

The number of doubles in total may be accurate, but within that there seem to be fewer 2B via ground balls down the lines and over OF's head than what occurs in the MLB. Almost all of my doubles occur via the gap.
This is just based on anecdotal evidence, but I've only seen a few ground balls/choppers that get into the corners. But they occur pretty often in the MLB.Last edited by MrOldboy; 05-05-2014, 07:34 PM.Comment
