Well, like I said I'm already through the off season, and don't have an earlier save unfortunately. My team still looks good, just considering other options.

So even if they say nothing next to their name, they are still renewable?

Yeah I think so. Either that or pending Free Agents.

An OS friend of mine streamed his offseason last night because he wanted some help. I noticed some of the players listed on the contract screen (the one where you make offers) had nothing written in the description column (the column that said Qualified/Contract Renewable/etc). They could have even been pending Free Agents. I only glanced at it. But...

These players MOST DEFINITELY were on expiring deals and needed to be given offers in order to be retained.

I'd assume it's the same for the CPU teams except if you are indeed using single team control, there is no way no how that they didn't or shouldn't have made offers to almost all of the players. Not unless something is really messed up (like with the game, or roster, etc).

If large chunks of minor leaguers from each team are hitting the open market, especially the ones that literally just needed an offer to be retained, than this is a huge issue (one I haven't seen or heard of) and needs to be fixed.

Though I doubt that's what's going on here.

I'd say, if say 75 players had expiring contracts, in almost all cases 60-70 of these guys should come back. This is because they are cheap and under team control.

Are you positive you're only using single team control. I can easily see a human making these kinds of mistakes but the CPU should never do what you're describing. Especially if it's all the remaining 29 doing it.

Just lost my 81st game, so with 14 left at best I can get to .500... not likley though!

Looking forward to the off-season, dont need a major overhaul, got some injuries coming back (Harvey/Parnell) and maybe 1 or 2 big acquisitions and I can compete better.

Mill, I usually use two swaves. Especially not using 30 team control incase I see an awful trade. Let the auto save go and then at the end of like every series I add to my backup save. And a cloud save whenever I can remember.

Id always make a double save at the end of season also just for weird things like this. Aha.

Gary Sanchez got World vs US honors. A strong showing in AA early in the season got him a promotion to AAA. He started off rough but hit a stride and has been showing great power.

            Spoiler

Catcher Brian McCan earns HR Derby entry.

McCan went on to beat Yonder Alonso.

Tanaka wins the start for the AS team, beating out Verlander who is also in the CY Young race.

            B. Gardner gets an AS honor, goes 0-1 with 2 SB, 2 runs.

            McCan goes deep.

            D. Robertson enters the game, giving up 1 BB. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, 3-5 AL.

(Ellsbury also got a bench spot but some glitch made him have crazy face)

Roommate accidentally saved over my Yanks one. Have another Yanks one (more realistic) that I'll be playing, also picked up a Cubs one just for fun. Going to be sport cast managing until the All Star break or so. Then I'll be making some moves.

Update. 2nd game of the season 10-3 lead in the 9th. Lose 11-10. I'm already hating this Cubs pen. Ha.

Because the "real" minor leaguers are actually created, they aren't under the umbrella of the contract renewable/Rule 5 exceptions because the game doesn't recognize them as drafted players. You have to go through and manually offer them contracts and keep them out of the Rule 5 draft by manually placing them on the 40 man. The contracts take a while, but adding to the 40 man only takes about 20 minutes each time.

Out of curiosity, if I were to do a franchise is stock SCEA roster, would the same thing happen?

I can't say for sure because I've never done one with the stock rosters, but my guess would be yes.

Ive done the first off season 4 times now. 3 were normal but one had a ton of top prospects in the rule 5 and changing teams. Idk if its just a glitch or not but that was the only time it was an issue.

I'm 6-17 with the Orioles. Pitching is doing terrible. Batting started terrible but I'm laying off more pitches.

I've lost 6 games alone in final innings from the CPU deciding to get errors. Easy pop flys and guys acting like they lost in sun. It's really frustrating.

8 game back in the East, just got swept by the Blue Jays. Just lost my last game on a botched bunt attempt / suicide squeeze with the ball going off my catchers glove.

I think Nick Markakis has a .093 Batting Average right now. Only person I can't hit with at all.

                            August 1st, 2014 update:

The Yankees stand at 54-54 heading into a three game series with the Redsox. The Yankees are in second place in the AL East behind the 58-50 Orioles. The Rays are just behind/tied with the Yankees, as they are also 54-54. The wildcard standings are as follows:

                            1st: Texas Rangers (57-51)
                            2nd: Seattle Mariners (57-51)
                            3rd-Kansas City Royals (55-53) (2 games back)
                            4th: Houston Astros (55-54) (2.5 games back)
5th: New York Yankees (54-54) (3 games back)
                            6th: Tampa Rays (54-54) (3 games back)

SP Michael Pineda is on the bench for 1-6 days with an elbow inflammation. Derek Jeter is hurt (again) with an inflamed hip. Jeter is on the 15 day DL, estimated to be out 1-6 days, with 6 days left on the DL. Kelly Johnson is on the 15 day DL with 8 days left due to a fractured wrist.

Masahiro Tanaka is struggling; he's 4-12 with a 4.84 ERA. CC Sabathia is on a cold streak but has a 9-5 record and a 3.43 ERA. David Phelps seems to be the worst of the starting pitcher rotation; he has an 0-5 record with a 9.00 ERA.

Heading into the series opener with Boston, Alfredo Aceves will start the first game. Aceves has a 9-6 record, a 3.64 ERA and 95 strikeouts .

In terms of hitting, Brian McCann and Alex Rodriguez are on hot streaks while Carlos Beltran is on a cold streak.

                            Rookies from the Amateur Draft:

SP Julio Blanco was the first player selected by the Yankees. His best attribute is his stamina, and he has a 78 potential rating.

RP Brian Ramirez was the second round pick; like Blanco, he's 22 years old, with slightly lower potential at 72.

The only other notable player sis third round selection RP Miguel Guzman. At 21 years old and with a 71 potential rating, he could make a name for himself.
*(I simmed the Amateur draft and the CPU decided to draft all RPs with the exception of first round pick Blanco.)

Is there a Franchise Off-season discussion thread? I'd like to discuss what players were available as free agents, rule 5 draft, who you signed/traded for, etc.?

I finished with the Phillies last night 79-83 . I was three games out of the last wildcard spot but the Nats ran away with it and Braves ended up beating the A's in the Series. I am looking to get some young up and coming players and move on from the old, large contracts if I can help it...

Interested to see if anyone has any suggestions!

Going into the 44th game this morning. Realizing that i actually suck at this game when it comes to hitting. I was pretty close to starting a play 1 sim 5 instead of playing every game. 1st inning. Ground ball between 1st and 2nd. I make Infante dive even though there is no chance he gets to it. Fractured Forearm and he is out 2-3 months. That right there decided it. Went on to lose the game 6-5 and we are now 22-23. I fotgot to scout for the draft like i always do. So im going to cheat and look at another teams scouting.
