Put my TV in PC mode and it helped tremendously.

Even that vid is wrong. The foot comes up as the pitchers plant foot touches the ground starting the entire load and stride. The heel is up on all of those for that reason-the foot is planted before the release. Frankly, this game got it wrong. At least, that's my take.

I use game mode on my TV with no change whatsoever. I just hope they acknowledge the dead zones are absolute **** atm.

i finally just said screw it and set the stride slider to a 4, its like im back to previous years where i can get good strides waiting for the ball to start being released, much better

I moved pitch speed to 4 and that helped with catching up to fastballs. Very easy to swing early with buttons only. I'll try stride slider.

Re: What's Wrong with Stride Timing?

In the last twitch Q&A I know they said that stride timing had been moved up to give you more time to react to the pitch, and that you needed to stride right around the time when the pitcher's arm was behind him. I know that someone (I think in this thread -- maybe?) said they stride when the pitcher's arm pointed at center field. I got good timing using that, but for some reason I would still fight with myself.

As others noted, it just feels counter-intuitive pulling back on the stick and holding, that and I noticed there were times when I would get a Perfect stride yet if my player had a short stride animation (say like a Freddie Freeman) then in replays there would be this ugly animation where the foot would hit the ground and he would hold the bat cocked for a beat before he swung. So, I finally decided to just ride with my players stride regardless of whatever stride feedback I got.

If I got a guy with a high leg kick like a Hanley Ramirez, I start the stride earlier in the pitcher's motion so that his leg comes down right as the pitch arrives. Short striders I start the stick back a lot later.

I'm getting better results and smoother looking animations in replays, and I'm not fighting with myself as much at the plate.

One thing I did notice by focusing on my players' individual stride is when I get my rhythm I still find my way back to good timing. The longer strides get me closer to Good and Perfect because I have to start the stick back sooner. I wind up with a fair amount of Just Late(s) with the shorter strides.

After days of trying to get used to the new stride timing (pure analog) and unnatural feel .... I give up. I'm going back to Zone Hitting until this gets fixed. It just feels so unresponsive and frustrating.

You summed it up for me there. It doesn't feel right at all pulling the stick back 'early'...it's got to the point I have to count to two from the start of the windup and force myself to pull back.

I also find myself having less discipline to pitches way off the plate when I stride early.

Re: What's Wrong with Stride Timing?

having played baseball my whole life (still do in a 30+ league), I've absolutely loved the "pure analog" swing since its inception...until now. for a game that prides itself on realism, requiring the gamer to pull back, load early, and wait on the pitch is simply wrong. combine that with the way over the top exaggerated leg kick/stride/toe tapping animations = bad swings. IRL, if you load too early, you are left flat-footed, find yourself "lunging" at the ball, or are simply way ahead of the pitch and leaning forward. obviously, none of these are "perfect" examples of timing. of course, everyone is different, but IMO (and to echo prior statements), the optimal swing loading time is just before the pitcher releases. this way your front foot is *just* down on the ground allowing proper balance, swing plane, and lower body rotation as the ball nears the zone. any hitch or stopping during this movement SHOULD be what throws you off, not what rewards you.

the game mechanism has been perfect for this in the past, it's just "off" by a beat this year. seems like an easy fix. also, I tried tweaking the sliders regarding stride timing, and they don't seem to do anything. am I alone in that thought?

all this being said, this certainly isn't a game breaking issue...I just feel like it just shouldn't be an issue because the devs already had it correct before. with patience I can still get my fair share of hits and I do enjoy the game nearly as much as I always have. the frustration is in the increased amounts of poor swings that are being attributed to timing...as opposed to simply swinging at garbage and getting myself out!

The stride is fine. If you newer to analog hitting like myself I can personally tell you that you have to keep playing and playing. Like go to batting practice and just hit hit hit. It will be come second nature to you soon. Right now my issue is learning how to move the stick to hit certain certain pitches in locatingeneral because going just straight down than up won't work u have to learn how to go left to right and right to right. Gotta play with it. See how u like to swing
