    Consistently Very Low Scoring Games

I took a break from MLB games for a year and have come back on the PS4. I am curious to know if others struggle with low scoring games consistently.

I play with different teams, even and un-even games, and I am unable to get any hits that are not ground balls or easy fly-outs.

On the CPU side, they also struggle to do much. The occasional walk is about it. I found this with MLB The Show 12.

I am not looking a sliders right away and I have been playing default 'veteran' controls (as chosen when first starting the game).

What is the key to more offence from me and the CPU? I use the standard controls this year which include pulse pitching etc. I can't see how I can comfortably defend but not get a hit or even a home-run in multiple games.

Any help would be great! Cheers

Well, I am by no means very good at the game, but, yesterday while playing a day game at Yankee stadium I blasted 7 home runs with the Angels!! I was shocked, they all felt so good when I hit them too! So I think it's all in your skill level at this point. Give it some time...hey it's the very 1st day.

Before opening my mouth I forgot about the dynamic difficulty. I am away from PS4 now but is dynamic difficulty on by default? I can't remember seeing what difficulty I chose. I only selected 'veteran' at the start because I wanted control of base runners and fielders.

No. You turn it on manually. It's automatically on veteran.

In my franchise I "play 1 and sim 5" games. Opening day I won 6-5 with a walkoff HR and the next game I played I lost 3-2. I've seen it vary, but it's a small sample size with me.

I'm using modified OSFM rosters and TNK's sliders.

I've always said this. So far I've played two games. I lost the first one 1-0 and lost the second one 3-0. It would be nice to score a run, but then again, I'm the Cubs so my hitters are atrocious.

I always give it some time and plenty of games before I decide on what if anything needs bumping to create a better experience for me but traditionally I've always used a higher difficulty for pitching than hitting.

I have came up with the same issue, very low scoring games. I guess it's more realistic this way I assume.

Cheers guys. I'm going to give the dynamic difficulty ago tonight. Hoping this will help my abysmal hitting.

I use default all-star, and have a good variety of high, and low scroing games, blow-outs etc...

I've played 34 MLB 14 PS3 games and now 1 PS4 game and yes offense tends to be down. However my observations are that the starting pitchers might be a little better than they should be. A lot of my games start off slow with not a lot of offense. But by the time the 9th inning rolls around and some relief pitchers have come into the game things tend to even themselves out. In my 1st MLB 14 PS4 game played last night. I was playing with the Rockies against the Rangers. It was a 0-0 game with extremely low hits for both teams into the 7th inning. But then 2 Rangers hit solo home runs off of me in the top of the inning. Going into the bottom of the 9th offense was still down, a loss looked inevitable. But the troops rallying and I managed to tie the game 2-2 with a number of consecutive hits. Unfortunately the Rangers got two more runs in the top of the 10th and it was lights out, I lose 4-2. However at the end of the game, in 10 innings the Rangers had 4 runs on 8 hits while I had 2 runs on 9 hits. Those are realistic stats.

You need to play more games to let things average themselves out. But yes the general observation is, is that offense is down in 2014.

Re: Consistently Very Low Scoring Games

My first game was spring training with the O's vs Marlins on All-Star pitching. I gave up one hit in the game and moved the difficulty to HOF.

IMO HOF is where it's at. Very limited sample size but I'm like what the numbers have been so far. I fear the big name hitters.

Re: Consistently Very Low Scoring Games

                            I can't say I disagree with My99.

I'm 48 games into my Franchise and my team ERA is now down to 3.66. My bullpen ERA's are a mess (in a good way), but my starters are dominating in almost every game.

If my starters were a little less of a sure thing, my team stats would be nearly perfect.

I'm on Default AS, by the way. Classic pitching. QC's only.

I'm debating on raising Solid Hits a click (my H/9 is extremely low), but first I'm going back to Dynamic Difficulty to see if that helps.

After 10 starts, Pineda has an ERA in the 1.80's. CC is in the 2.70's. Kuroda is in the mid 3's, as is Nova.

But Robertson is hovering around 8.00. Kelley is in the 5.00's, as are a few others. It's very odd but I'm sure with either of my decisions it'll all balance back out.

Offense is down in Baseball in real life, it has been going that way for a number of years with pitchers dominating more and more.

I dont see this "issue" im literally getting all manner of pitchers duels, mid range games, slugfests etc.

Its a lot to do with Slider issues (some glaring things in default sliders dramatically cut offense unrealistically) and players simply not playing well enough i.e. finger skills.
