    Guess pitch

I skipped MLB 13 so the Guess Pitch options seem way different. Can anyone explain the difference between Default, Classic, and PCI? Also, why is there no rumble now when you guess correctly?

    Re: Guess pitch

I second the question. I understand Default to be the All or Nothing system of last year, but what about Classic or PCI ?

Anyone? Is the rumble gone? I guessed the right part of the zone (no pitch type guess) and didn't notice any feedback.

If I'm remembering correctly,it was changed last year. I think you only get feedback if you guess both correctly. I don't use GP, so I'm not 100% sure.

Ok, so how do you guess the pitch type? I know how to pick the zone.

            Re: Guess pitch

Hold down R2 and press the corresponding button with the pitch you think it will be (based on what pitches the pitcher has in his arsenal).

I use classic and it almost seems like it doesn't do anything when you do guess correctly

                  Re: Guess pitch

Classic seems to be the old GP 1/4 this year. looks like GP 1/6 has been removed

You can guess both pitch and location, or one or the other.

Its an all or nothing if you guess both - for example - if you guess low fastball, and its a low slider - you get no feedback that the pitch will be low.

If you guess both correctly you will immediately see a pulsing red target indicating the location of the pitch

If you guess purely location and get it correct, when the pitcher releases you get a red target of where the ball will cross the plate. You will know the location, but not know if the pitch is a fastball or breaking pitch.

                  hope that helps

this was changed last year, so if you are coming from 12, its a bit confusing

With classic, if you guess both the pitch type AND location, you have to get BOTH guesses correct to receive feedback. If this happens, it will pinpoint the location of the pitch. Guess both wrong, and nothing happens.

Again, with classic, guess just the location. Down, for example. If it is correct, you're reticle will be locked onto the location.

Guess the pitch type correctly, and the zone will flash.

If you guess pitch type and location, you must get both right or you receive nothing.

                      Re: Guess pitch

I use classic and only guess the pitch type. I normally guess fastball all of the time, so if I guess wrong I'll know the pitch will have some movement on it (slider, Curve, sinker, etc.)

I used to guess the pitch type and location but dont like that "it's all or nothing" so I went to just guessing the pitch type by itself. It's been really helpful in working the counts and drawing some walks.

Yeah, I mean I know how to do it, it just doesn't seem to do anything. Isn't it supposed to up contact and power when you guess correctly?

Sounds like a great strategy - thanks! Will give that a try.

One strategy I use is always guess location high, and move the PCI down in the zone. That way, if it's low, I'm already targeting that area. Plus, it's easier to judge if a ball will be a strike or not with the PCI low in the zone IMO.

                            Quick count user here, too.

For the most part I go fastball or Cutter (if it's their first pitch) and inside. Anything else I don't swing at until two strikes. At that point I try swinging late so I have a bit more time to figure it's a good pitch or not.
