The next time you hit an "unusual" homerun, check out the batter analysis and look for the "label_hitchance" filter. That's an estimate of the quality of contact - how well the PCI was lined up, on a scale of 0 to 15.

    Take a look at this:

Those are the hits from a game I just played (yes, it's MLB vs AA, I'm testing extremes on quick counts and just happened to find something applicable to this thread)

One of these things is not like the others. That "9" is significantly lower than all of the other hits, meaning I had the PCI poorly placed (it was completely below the ball on the post-pitch analysis, which read as "Normal contact and "Normal" timing). So, what was it?

    This.

Ryan Sweeney hits a wall-scraper that just clears the basket. There wasn't much wind (3 MPH) and I wish there had been, but I really don't think this gets out of the yard without a little push. And what wind there was was directly behind the ball.

BTW, Ryan Sweeney is not a power hitter. 36 PWR vs. Lefties, and 34 vs. Righties. And I'm playing on HOF hitting.

What do you guys think? I'll keep an eye out for more stuff like this - I'm bound to notice more of it in Wrigley if I'm on the lookout for it.
Didn't even know you could view hit quality thanks.

Also the Cubs only won by 4?

Believe it nor not, I actually saw them lose in a few sims of that game. It's a sad, sad state we're in.
